Wrapping up 2025 with gratitude and purpose through Project SURUNG โ€“ Phase 1

Initiated by PYAPโ€“Barangay Zone III Chapter, this phase focused on community needs assessment and heartfelt gift giving. Listening first, then responding with care and compassion. What started as conversations turned into meaningful action for the community we serve.

Our deepest thanks to our generous sponsor, Atty. Sharmaine Mole, and to MSWD, our valued project partner, for the guidance, support, and trust that made this initiative possible.

Phase 1 may be complete, but the mission of SURUNG continues stronger, united, and ready for what comes next.

Project Surung is an initiative that fosters a collaborative and enabling approach towards the Sama-Badjao community. The project focuses towards a systematic and participatory approach that assesses community needs and designs interventions rooted in local knowledge. Instead of a direct intervention, the approach will first honor and delve into the culture and traditions of the community before integrating newfound solutions. It promotes sustainable solutions that focus on its three-point agenda. The project enables community members as partners rather than beneficiaries, and it cultivates ownership and long-term impact. In time, Project Surung envisions an inclusive community that respects the Sama-Badjaoโ€™s values while creating pathways for progress.
