On March 24, 2026 ZPPSU-AMBC carried out its celebration of National Women’s Month with the theme “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” spearheaded by the Campus Student Council. The activity gathered students, faculty, and staff in a shared effort to reflect on the role of women in today’s society and the importance of inclusion across all sectors.
The program opened with a discussion led by the invited speaker, Ma’am Jeanny Claire Dayonot, RSW. In her talk, she explained the purpose of Women’s Month in a way that connected well with students. She introduced inclusive activities and ideas that encouraged participation from everyone, regardless of gender, and explained how awareness can lead to a more respectful and equal environment within the campus and beyond.
She also spoke about the concept of “Lead Like a Babaylan.” In pre-colonial Philippines, the babaylan were respected women leaders who served as healers, spiritual guides, and decision-makers in their communities. They held authority and were seen as symbols of wisdom and strength. By referring to this, Ma’am Dayonot emphasized that leadership among women is not new but deeply rooted in Filipino culture.
She explained that women today continue to carry this strength, not only in leadership roles but also in education, service, and everyday responsibilities. She encouraged students to recognize these qualities and to use them to influence others positively.
Messages of support were also delivered by Ma’am Joan M. Dio, Program Chair of BS Hospitality Management, and Ma’am Laarni Buenaventura, Program Chair of BindTech Culinary, and Guidance Designate Ma’am Mae Ann C. Gregana. In their speeches, they acknowledged the efforts, resilience, and contributions of women in both academic and professional fields. They reminded students that women continue to take on important roles that shape communities.
In the afternoon, the event continued with performances in Women’s Got Talent from different departments, including BindTech Culinary, BindTech Computer, BS Hospitality Management, and BS Entrepreneurship. Each department presented performances, showing creativity and coordination. Intermission numbers from BS Hospitality Management and BS Entrepreneurship added energy to the program and kept the audience engaged.
This meaningful gathering came to life through the sincere support and guidance of Current OIC Admin Ar. Clarice Ann Cañete, whose steady presence helped bring everything into place together with the Instructors, Mr. Mark Soriano, Ma’am Engel Ann Mainit. Deep appreciation is also extended to Mr. Rudy Mateo, head of the ZPPSU AMBC - Young Entrepreneur Society events and creatives department, for his dedication in spearheading the decorations on stage in every event.
To the Campus Student Council, whose time, effort, and commitment made this initiative possible who worked behind the scenes, your hard work did not go unnoticed. And to the student leaders, each contribution, big or small, became part of something truly significant.
As the women’s month event came to a close, what remained was not just applause, but a renewed sense of responsibility among students to move with purpose, speak with intent, and take part in shaping a space where equality and inclusion are not just discussed, but lived.
