PCGA is a volunteeer civilian organization established by the Philippine Coast Guard initially for the purpose of assisting in the conduct of search and rescue as most of its first members were owners of boats and yachts. The PCGA eventually expanded and is now a big organization various activities aimed at assisting in the PCG in promoting marine safety, search and rescue, marine environment protection and preservation, youth development and humanitarian service.
