🏳️‍🌈 In observance of Pride Month 2026, the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), through the External Affairs and Institutional Development Centre (EAIDC) – Social Development (SocDev) Unit, joined the celebration by promoting diversity, equality, inclusion, and respect within the university community.

🌈 The month-long observance featured various initiatives, including the Pride Month campaign, rainbow illumination of the UZ Pillars, Rainbow Wednesdays, and the Handcrafted Pride Artwork Competition held on June 22, 2026, at the UZ Wellness Garden, UZ Main Campus, which provided an avenue for creative expression and advocacy for inclusivity.

🤝 Through this observance, UZ reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive academic community while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

🌱 In observance of Arbor Day 2026, the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), through the External Affairs and Institutional Development Centre (EAIDC) – Social Development (SocDev) Unit, conducted a Tree-Planting Activity on June 23, 2026, at the UZ Pasonanca Campus in partnership with the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR). 🌳

🌍 Through this observance, UZ reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land, by encouraging collective action and environmental responsibility.

🌸 In observance of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health 2026, the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), through the External Affairs and Institutional Development Centre (EAIDC) – Social Development (SocDev) Unit and the Safety, Health, and Environment Department (SHED) – Health Services, conducted the Women’s Health Awareness Conference entitled “Honoring Women: Prioritizing Women’s Mental Health and Well-being” on May 18, 2026, at Teatro Estrella, Edificio Académico, UZ Main Campus.

🩺 The conference featured Prof. Anna Maria P. Gomez, who shared valuable insights on women’s mental health, emotional well-being, self-care, and the importance of accessible, gender-responsive support systems.

🌍 Through this observance, UZ reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 5: Gender Equality, by promoting women’s health and fostering a healthy, inclusive, and supportive academic community.

27 March 2026: Universidad de Zamboanga officially partners with the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion 🤝

A Memorandum of Partnership and Deed of Usufruct was sealed between Universidad de Zamboanga and the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion represented by Dr. Jo-Anne J. Bernardo and Mr. Alfredo S. Eustaquio and Lt. Col. Edgar S. Bernardo Jr. and Maj. Romelito M. Macaraig, respectively.

Moreover, a partnership for the training in Defense Tactical, Marksmanship, and Combat Shooting was sealed with the School of Criminal Justice represented by Dr. Emily K. Sarte and Ms. Sheena Mae B. Delos Santos.
The collaboration endeavors in helping Criminal Justice students gain real-world skills and discipline.

Together, we raise awareness, share stories, and stand stronger for every woman fighting battles unseen. ✨

In celebration of the 2026 National Women’s Month, the Marcha de Las Mujeres: A Purple Walk Campaign was successfully held on March 6, 2026. 💜

From Zamboanga Central School to Paseo Del Mar, participants walked together in unity—raising awareness, showing strength, and standing up for women’s rights and empowerment. Among those who proudly joined the movement was Universidad de Zamboanga, showing its strong support for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The sea of purple symbolized courage, resilience, and solidarity among women and allies. This meaningful march reminds us that every step we take brings us closer to a more inclusive and empowered future for all women. ✨
