Yesterday marked the successful launch of the ArkiTalk Series entitled “𝔸𝕣𝕜𝕚𝕂𝕒𝕥𝕒”, held on October 19, 2025, at the Business Lounge, ARDCI Hotel. This initiative aims to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, idea sharing, and discussions on emerging trends and innovations in architecture, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, resilience, and design excellence.

The session featured two insightful discussions:

“Click. Create. Construct. Free Digital Tools for the Connected Practice” delivered by 𝐀𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐝 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚, and

“Shaping the Future: Architecture in Catanduanes through Culture and Climate Response” presented by 𝐀𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐀. 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧

Both speakers shared remarkable insights that inspired participants and broadened perspectives on the evolving architectural landscape.

As part of this advocacy, the Chapter has successfully completed Phase 1 of the initiative through a benchmarking activity at the historic Loran Station.

📍 Loran Station, short for Long Range Navigation, was established in the 1950s as a critical navigational facility for American and Philippine ships and aircraft. Utilizing a system of radio signals to determine long-range location, it was operated by the US Coast Guard under the US-Philippine Military Bases Agreement before being turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard, and eventually decommissioned in the late 1970s.

This site is not only a testament to mid-20th century technological advancement but also a silent witness to decades of geopolitical history between the Philippines and the United States.
🧭 By revisiting and learning from this site, UAP Catanduanes aims to deepen our understanding of architectural conservation and help shape a future that honors the past.
