“Kapag nawala ang tahanan, saan magsisimula ang pagbangon?”

Minsan, hindi natin kailangang magkaroon ng lahat ng sagot. Kailangan lamang nating magkaroon ng mga taong handang lumapit, makiramay, at tumulong.

On August 20, 2026, JCI Catanduanes, in partnership with TGP Party-List, brought Oplan Kaagapay to families whose homes were recently affected by fire in Gogon Centro and Sitio Luminangas, Virac, Catanduanes.

For the families we visited, the fire was more than a disaster. It meant losing a place where memories were made, where families gathered, and where everyday life unfolded. In just a few moments, much of what they had built was gone.

We know that the assistance we brought cannot replace everything the flames took away.

But sometimes, help is not about replacing what was lost. It is about making the burden a little lighter.

Oplan Kaagapay is our way of saying:

You are seen.
You are remembered.
And you do not have to rebuild alone.

Through this partnership, we hope to bring not only immediate assistance, but also a renewed sense of hope—because rebuilding begins when a community chooses to stand together.

The flames may have taken their homes, but they will not take away their hope for a better tomorrow.

BRIDGING HORIZONS: A Promise Kept, A Commitment in Action

Last December, JCI Catanduanes visited the San Andres District Jail, where we made a simple yet meaningful promise: we would return and share whatever we could provide.

On August 19, 2026, we kept that promise.

Through BRIDGING HORIZONS, members of JCI Catanduanes returned to extend support by distributing rice and hygiene kits—a gesture rooted not only in giving, but in remembering, caring, and following through on a commitment made months before.

Aligned with the JCI Philippines national program, Beyond Prison Walls, the project reflects our belief that service should reach beyond physical boundaries. A prison may separate people from the community, but it should never prevent compassion, dignity, and hope from reaching them.

What began as a promise in December became a commitment in action in August.

BRIDGING HORIZONS reminds us that meaningful service is not measured only by what we give, but by our willingness to return, honor our word, and continue building bridges where they are needed most.

A promise kept. A commitment in action. A horizon bridged.

JCI Catanduanes Honored as Outstanding Partner in Development

JCI Catanduanes proudly took part in the National Disaster Resilience Month Culminating Activity and AHYD Conference 2026 held on August 1, 2026, at the Sen. Edgardo Angara Memorial Building in Baras, Catanduanes.

Adding meaning to the occasion, JCI Catanduanes was recognized by the Local Government Unit of Baras, Municipal Population and Development Office, and MDRRMO Baras with a plaque naming the organization “Outstanding Partner in Development.”

The recognition honors JCI Catanduanes for its exceptional commitment to youth development, advocacies, and civic involvement—a testament to the organization’s continued efforts to create meaningful partnerships and contribute to initiatives that empower young people and strengthen communities.

Adding to the program, JCI Catanduanes Vice President for Membership Mishel Sarmiento shared a message as a guest speaker, representing the organization in a gathering centered on youth participation, disaster resilience, and community development.

This recognition inspires JCI Catanduanes to continue building partnerships that turn purpose into action and leadership into meaningful impact.

JCI Catanduanes — committed to empowering youth, strengthening communities, and creating lasting impact.

What started with a machine, a blank design, and a room full of young learners became a real lesson in creating value, earning income, and building possibilities.

On July 30, 2026, at DTI Baras, JCI Catanduanes, together with the Local Government Unit of Baras through the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) and DTI Catanduanes, conducted the Skills Training on Tote Bag and T-Shirt Design Printing under the LIKHA+ Youth Skills Enterprise Program – Batch 2.

Facilitated by Harry Ariate Pang-an, Trade and Industry Development Specialist of DTI Catanduanes, the training went beyond demonstration. Participants learned by doing—from setting up the printing machine and practicing the printing process, to exploring design techniques, computing costs, and determining the right price for their products.

But the most compelling part was seeing the skills turn into something tangible.

The participants put their new skills to work and successfully sold printed shirts, generating ₱13,500 in total sales. Eighty percent (80%) of the proceeds will go directly to the participants to help cover their allowances and boarding house expenses, while the remaining amount will be reinvested into the enterprise—keeping the cycle of learning, earning, and growing alive.

This is what LIKHA+ is about: not simply teaching young people a skill, but giving them the opportunity to experience what that skill can become.

The initiative is aligned with the JCI Philippines National Programs—JCI Ideas, JCI in Business, and Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE), reinforcing our commitment to developing young people who are not only skilled, but creative, enterprising, and ready to create opportunities for themselves and others.

Because empowerment becomes more meaningful when learning leads to action, action creates income, and income opens the door to a better tomorrow.

They did not just learn how to print.
They learned how to create.
They learned how to sell.
And most importantly, they learned that what they can create has value.

A proud moment worth looking back on.

From June 9–11, 2026, JCI Catanduanes was represented by its Charter President, Joshua O. Tadoy, at the JCI Asia-Pacific Conference 2026 in Niigata, Japan, where he participated in the JCI Certified Area Trainer Program.

Joining fellow JCI leaders from across the Asia-Pacific Region, CP Josh immersed himself in an international learning experience focused on training, leadership, and strengthening his capacity to inspire and equip fellow leaders.

Beyond the sessions and new learnings, his participation carried with it something even more meaningful—the opportunity to represent JCI Catanduanes beyond the shores of the Happy Island.

We take pride in seeing one of our leaders bring the name of Catanduanes to an international platform, build connections across borders, and gain experiences that can be shared back with the organization.

From our island to the Asia-Pacific, the spirit of Catanduanon leadership continues to make its mark. 🌏

On August 8, 2026, JCI Catanduanes took part in the JCI Philippines Area 3 3rd Area Council Meeting held at Crystal Paradise Resort, Narra, Palawan, hosted by JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao, Inc.

Representing the Local Organization was VP Mishel Sarmiento, who served as Chief Delegate on behalf of President Hon. Jose Paolo P. Teves III. Her participation provided JCI Catanduanes with an opportunity to engage in Area-level discussions, organizational updates, and exchanges with fellow Local Organizations across Area 3.

Also representing JCI Catanduanes at the gathering was Charter President Joshua O. Tadoy, who attended as part of the Area Board, contributing to the broader Area-level discussions and engagements.

More than an organizational meeting, the gathering created space for Local Organizations to reconnect, exchange experiences, align initiatives, and strengthen collaboration—recognizing that meaningful impact becomes greater when organizations work together toward a shared purpose.

Together, we connect. Together, we lead. Together, we create greater impact.
