Five (5) youths from Villaviciosa, led by SK Federation President Angeline Paned and facilitated by LYDO Designate Christian Zamoranos together with RHU staff Ma’am Mafe Cital, participated in the 2026 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial with the theme, “Light the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act.”
This event was highly relevant as the Province of Abra ranks 3rd in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases, recording 210 cases.
The activity aimed to encourage the youth to make more responsible choices, seek professional help when needed, and become more educated and aware about HIV/AIDS prevention.
During the discussion, participants learned that the best ways to combat HIV/AIDS is through the ABCDE approach:
𝗔 – 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝘅
𝗕 – 𝗕𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿
𝗖 – 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺𝘀
𝗗 – 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹
𝗘 – 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳
Through activities like this, the youth are empowered to become advocates of awareness, prevention, and healthy living within their community.
