Brothers of the Sacred Heart - Philippines If you are interested to be a member of Brothers of the Sacred Heart, feel free to inquire with our Vocation Director.

The Brothers of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic religious congregation founded in 1821 in Lyon, France, by Father André Coindre. Their mission focuses on the Christian education of youth, especially those who are poor and marginalized, by fostering their intellectual, moral, and spiritual development. The congregation arrived in the Philippines in 1959, when three Brothers from the Ottawa Province

in Canada established their first community in Digos, Davao del Sur. In 1962, they opened a formation house in Catalunan Grande, Davao City, which later became known as the Sacred Heart Spirituality Center. Over the years, the Brothers have expanded their ministries in Mindanao, most notably through Cor Jesu College in Digos and other educational and formation institutions. Living in community, they take the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and draw their inspiration from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, striving to embody compassion, service, and love in all their works. Their mission continues to focus not only on academic education but also on holistic formation, guiding the youth toward faith, character, and service to others.

From solving derivatives to shaping future educators, he walked the long quiet road of excellence, never complaining, always leading by example. Today, that road leads to a well deserved milestone:

Annual Retreat 2026 | Brothers of the Sacred Heart – Delegation of the Philippines

With grateful hearts, we conclude our Annual Retreat 2026, held from May 3–7, 2026.

For five blessed days, the Brothers gathered in prayer, silence, reflection, and fraternity as we deepened our spiritual journey inspired by the General Chapter booklet theme: “Sowers of Hope.”

We give thanks to God for the guidance and wisdom shared by our retreat facilitator, Rev. Fr. Duong Thien Chi, OFM, whose reflections encouraged us to continue sowing hope in our communities, ministries, and daily lives.

As we return to our respective missions, may we carry with us renewed faith, joyful hearts, and the courage to become true sowers of hope for the people entrusted to our care.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for us during this sacred time.

On this special day, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart - Philippine Delegation join the universal Church in honoring the vocation and mission of Religious Brothers around the world. Through lives of humble service, deep faith, and unwavering dedication, Brothers continue to be living witnesses of God’s love in communities, schools, and ministries.

We give thanks for the gift of brotherhood — for those who have gone before us, those who serve today, and those who are still discerning this beautiful vocation.

May the spirit of compassion, simplicity, and zeal for God’s mission continue to inspire us all.

25/04/2026

Most Loving Father,
We bless You for a love that never rests,
a love that calls men and women in every age to be Your heart in the world.
Today, we ask You: stir the hearts of the young.
Fill them with a thirst for the truth and a hunger to choose You above all things.

Lord Jesus,
Raise up among us new vocations to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
Call forth men—both the young and those further on the journey—
who believe in Your love, long to live, and seek to spread it with an undivided heart.
Ignite in them the fire that drove André Coindre to the margins,
and give them the courage to give everything for the sake of the Kingdom.

Holy Spirit,
renew our communities.
Make our houses places of such joy and prayer
that others see in us a life worth living.

Mary, Mother of Vocations,
walk with those who are listening for a call.
May the Church never lack servants who seek only to beat with the rhythm of Your Son’s Heart.

We ask all this through Christ, our Lord and our Brother. Amen.
