RESCUE AND VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY NETWORK (RAVEN FIRE AND RESCUE) FLOOD SAFETY ADVISORY
Preparedness saves lives. As weather conditions fluctuate and flood risks increase, knowing what to do before, during, and after a flood is critical for you and your family.
Please review our safety guide above and keep these essential protocols in mind:
Before a Flood: Prepare an emergency Go-Bag, secure important documents, and clear your gutters and drainage systems.
During a Flood: Never attempt to walk, swim, or drive through moving floodwaters—Turn Around, Don't Drown! Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 1 foot can float a vehicle.
If Trapped: Move to higher ground or the highest level of your home, and signal for help immediately if water continues to rise.
After a Flood: Wait for official clearance before returning home, watch out for downed power lines, and avoid consuming contaminated water or food.
Save this post, share it with your household and community groups, and let's keep everyone safe.
