BSPHYSICS PRIDE ๐๐ป
Demonstrating how physics can address real-world challenges across agriculture, safety, and healthcare, student-researchers of the Bachelor of Science in Physics from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) presented their innovative research outputs.
Leading the lineup is the Robotic Soil Evaluator Facility (RSEF): A Multiparameter Automated Compact Soil Analyzer for Hybrid Corn Crop by Jonathan Galamay with Mr. Jesus Anastacio as his adviser. This study presents the design, innovation, fabrication, and testing of the Robotic Soil Evaluator Facility (RSEF), a multiparameter automated compact soil analyzer for hybrid corn crop. The system was designed to provide automated soil pH and NPK analysis. With its integrated human-machine interface and fertilizer recommendation system, RSEF empowers farmers with precise, science-based decisionsโbringing smart agriculture within reach.
Equally groundbreaking is the Hybrid Acoustic-Gas Fire Suppression System with Adaptive Frequency Control, developed by Rowell Shawn Ancheta, Rommel Danao, and Marjoleo Elpedes with Ms. Ester Ramboanga as their adviser. This innovation focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of a hybrid acoustic- gas fire suppression system with adaptive frequency control (Manual implementation). The system integrates an acoustic suppression module, and a carbon dioxide based extinguishing mechanism to improve fire suppression efficiency. The prototype was constructed with basic positioning components and a control system capable of adjusting acoustic frequency based on flame behavior. By adapting acoustic frequencies based on flame behavior, the prototype introduces a novel, physics-driven approach to fire safety.
In the field of healthcare, Princess Shaira Rivera, Precious Alacida, and Leimark Serrano with Mr. Virgilio Sebaste as their adviser, presented their Innovation and Testing of Human Health multi-Vital Sign Monitoring Device. This study focuses on the development and evaluation of potable and cost-efficient system designed to monitor essential human physiological parameters. It aims to innovate and test a Human Health Vital Sign Monitoring device capable of Measuring heart rate, body temperature and Blood oxygen saturationโoffering an accessible solution for real-time health monitoring.
These projects highlight the strength of the BS Physics program in blending theory, experimentation, and practical application. At the CNSM, students are trained not only to understand the laws of nature but to harness them in creating technologies that matter.
