For followers of Jesus, we’ve been given something worth sharing—the Good News of the Gospel. But sharing our faith doesn’t always have to feel complicated or intimidating. What if the change we’ve been praying for in our families starts with us? 💙

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for another meaningful B1G Wednesdays Online as we continued our series, “The Space Between Us: Bridging the Gap in Our Families,” with “Break the Cycle: Starting a New Legacy at Home.”

Tonight, we were reminded that unhealthy family patterns may be passed from one generation to another—but they do not have to define the next chapter. As we looked at the life of King Josiah, we saw that even when someone comes from a difficult family history, God can use one surrendered life to begin a different direction.

Our challenge was to S.T.A.R.T. the change in our family:
💙 See what you have normalized
💙 Turn to God’s Truth
💙 Acknowledge your need for change
💙 Remove what doesn’t honor God
💙 Trust God in the things you can’t change

Breaking a cycle is not simply about trying harder or promising to be different. Real change begins as God renews us—laying aside the old self and putting on the new self, being transformed into the kind of people who reflect Christ in our homes and relationships.

And one encouragement we want to carry with us: “It’s not easy to break the cycle, but it’s not impossible.” By God’s grace, your family story does not have to end the way it began.

Thank you again to everyone who spent the evening with us, shared, listened, and grew with us. We pray that what we learned won’t remain only in our notes, but will become visible in the way we speak, forgive, love, and live at home. 🤍

But here’s the hope: the cycle doesn’t have to continue.

Some of the ways we communicate, handle conflict, express love, or respond to pain were shaped long before we realized it. And while we cannot rewrite everything that happened in the past, by God’s grace, we can choose what we carry forward.

Sometimes, the greatest distance can exist even when we’re under the same roof. ❤️‍🩹

Thank you to everyone who joined us tonight for the first session of our new series, “The Space Between Us: Bridging the Gap in Our Families.” 🙌

For “Close the Distance: Addressing the Disconnect in Our Families,” we were reminded that simply being physically close doesn’t always mean we are truly connected. Sometimes there are conversations we keep postponing, hurts we avoid addressing, and misunderstandings that quietly create distance between us.

But distance doesn’t have to remain distance.

Through Ephesians 4:25–32, we were challenged to take intentional steps toward healthier relationships:

❤️ Lay aside falsehood and speak truth.
❤️ Overcome anger and bitterness.
❤️ Verbalize truth with grace.
❤️ Extend forgiveness.

Sometimes, one honest and grace-filled conversation can begin changing a relationship. As we heard tonight, even difficult family situations can move forward when we choose healthy dialogue instead of simply avoiding what needs to be addressed.

We’re also grateful for the meaningful conversations during our breakout rooms. Thank you for showing up, sharing, listening, and creating a safe space for one another. 🤍

And perhaps one reminder worth carrying with us this week is this: our families may not be perfect, but no family member is beyond God’s redemption.

So this week, may we choose to show up, be present, speak with grace, forgive, and take one step closer instead of one step farther.
