‎Today, we rolled through history and rediscovered the stories that shaped our beloved City of Talisay. From century-old landmarks to treasured cultural sites, every stop reminded us that our heritage is not only found in books, it lives in the places we visit, the stories we hear, and the pride we carry as gwapa nga panghimanwa.

‎Talisay Trails: Roll Through History is the very first initiative conceptualized and led by the Junior City Officials of Talisay, with the goal of bringing young people closer to our city's rich history and cultural identity.
‎
‎We extend our sincere gratitude to the participating schools for joining us on this meaningful journey. Special thanks to the WOMAN behind the GWAPA NGA PANGHIMANWA Hon. In celebration of the 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝, the 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 held its 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙨 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠 yesterday, June 8, 2026 at the Barangay Hall of Zone 12A, Talisay City.

With the theme "𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙬𝙖, 𝙆𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣-𝙤𝙣: 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨", this event aims to educate and encourage the youth to celebrate their culture, love their language and to know their identity as a Negrosanon.

We offer our deepest gratitude to 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙈𝙖. 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙖 𝙑. Young leaders convened last May 25, 2026, at the LYDO Office, City Hall, for the general assembly of the Junior City Officials. The gathering was full of ideas, collaboration, and shared commitment to serve the youth and the community.

The meeting focused on JCO’s commitment, proposed projects, and future plans as the organization continues to explore meaningful programs and initiatives. Besides the discussions, the assembly also provided an opportunity for all to connect, listen, and grow together as young public servants.

The assembly was led by John Mark Cangas on behalf of the Local Youth Development Office headed by, Ms. Katheryn Lo Rebelica; Meidal Rose Defensor, Junior City Vice Mayor; and Lester John Coyuca, Junior City Councilor, whose guidance and encouragement inspired the members to continue to lead with purpose, responsibility, and heart.

The General Assembly served as a meaningful reminder that leadership is not only about holding a position but also about dedication, teamwork, and the willingness to create positive change through collective ideas and actions for the community.

The Junior City Officials headed by Junior City Mayor Ada Therese B. Mirar, is thankful to Mayor Rowena "Weng" Lopez Lizares and to the Local Youth Development Office headed by Ms. Katheryn Lo Rebelica for the continous support and generosity.

The 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒔 of Talisay City proudly took part in the #𝐀𝐤𝐨𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 – 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 Human Rights Talk Session held today, May 22, 2026, at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.

This meaningful gathering became more than just a learning session, it became a reminder that the 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 who must stand for 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞.

The Youth Reel Making Competition by Handurawan: The Panaad sa Negros Youth Activities showcases LGUs’ youth advocacies, initiatives, and community impact through short-form storytelling, highlighting how young people in each city or municipality are making a difference.

HANDURAWAN: The Panaad sa Negros Festival Youth Activities is a youth engagement initiative that creates inclusive platforms for Negrosanon youth to celebrate culture, showcase creativity, and strengthen leadership.

Through cultural, creative, and civic activities, the initiative aims to empower young Negrosanon as stewards of heritage and drivers of community development in Negros Occidental.
The project is powered by the Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc. (NYLI) in partnership with the Negros Occidental Provincial Government.

Re: Recent Online Incident

As students and youth, we all face challenges and frustrations in our daily lives. From navigating schedules to managing travel difficulties, unforeseen circumstances such as sudden changes in weather can lead to a sudden suspension of classes. It is natural to feel angry, dissatisfied, or frustrated in these situations—these emotions are valid and reasonable. However, how we react to such situations should always be guided by respect, responsibility, and understanding.

In line with this, the Junior City Officials of the City of Talisay, Negros Occidental, strongly condemn all forms of unjust and demeaning remarks against Hon. Mayor Atty. Weng Lizares and to all people who are affected. We call on everyone, especially the youth, to express their concerns respectfully and constructively, especially in the realms of social media, making it a space for productive dialogue with other people. Despite challenges and misunderstandings, the City Government's steadfast dedication exemplifies integrity, compassion, and responsibility in public service. ‎ ‎Let this remind us that true leadership persists even in the face of criticism, driven by the sincere desire to protect and uplift the people. As students, let us express our sentiments respectfully and with empathy, recognizing the efforts of those who work tirelessly for the betterment of our community.
