Our 28 fourth-year BSCS studentsโ€”25 male and 3 femaleโ€” are about to enter a quiet, meaningful space in their journey as they go on retreat this October 12โ€“14, 2026. This is a moment for them to breathe, reflect, and gather strength for the final stretch of their college life.

If you want to make this moment even more meaningful for someone you care aboutโ€”your friend, classmate, orgmate, or even someone you quietly admire in BS Computer Scienceโ€”youโ€™re welcome to send a Palanca.

Palanca submissions will be accepted from October 8 until October 14, 2026.

Letโ€™s offer them gentle words and warm encouragement as they take this time to pause, reflect, and gather strength for the final stretch of their college journey.

Celebrating the richness of the Filipino language and its evolving role in the digital age, the BS Computer Science program of St. Mary's College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI) commemorates Buwan ng Wika with the theme, "Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon," highlighting the meaningful connection between language, technology, and education. The event emphasizes the importance of Filipino as a tool for research and learning while recognizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a bridge to accessible and diverse sources of information, inspiring students to embrace innovation, promote responsible use of technology, and appreciate the Filipino language as an essential part of knowledge, culture, and academic excellence.

โ€œNumber ra man.โ€
โ€œEmail ra gud.โ€

We say these things like they mean nothing.

But one piece of information can lead to anotherโ€”your name, number, email, birthday, location, habits, and the accounts connected to them.

When enough pieces are collected, they can become a map of you.

And when that data is stolen or leaked, it can be bought, sold, or traded on underground markets, where it may be used for scams, phishing, identity theft, account takeovers, and other attacks.

You may think youโ€™re giving away just a detail.

But sometimes, youโ€™re giving away a piece of yourself.

So next time youโ€™re about to click โ€œAllowโ€without reading, remember:
you might forget what you shared, but the internet doesnโ€™t.๐Ÿ‘€

May this birthday be a good one โ€” surrounded by the people who love you, doing the things that make you happy. You deserve a day that feels exactly like the kind of leader you are. Happy Birthday!

Strengthening preparedness and resilience, BS Computer Science students of St. Maryโ€™s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI) participated in the Disaster Preparedness Orientation and Emergency Drill. Through the activity, students learned disaster risk reduction, emergency response, and proper evacuation proceduresโ€”equipping them with essential skills to stay informed, prepared, and ready to respond during emergencies.
