As Pride Month comes to a close, we are reminded that Pride was never meant to begin and end in June.
Every person deserves a place where they do not have to explain their existence. A place where no one is forced to shrink themselves just to be accepted. A place where identity is not mistaken for defiance, where love is not treated as something to be hidden, and where dignity is never made conditional.
This Pride Month, Tindog Tagum Youth Organization, Inc. stands with the LGBTQIA+ community not only in celebration, but in the ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ท๐๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ, ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. We honor those who continue to live truthfully in a society where discrimination, exclusion, violence, and stigma remain real and persistent.
To every LGBTQIA+ youth who has carried too many questions alone, who has hidden parts of themselves out of fear, or who has been made to feel like their existence is a burden: โ๐ฅ๐ช ๐ฌ๐ข ๐ด๐ข๐บ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ. You are not something to be regretted, erased, or proven worthy. Your life, your story, and your truth matter, no matter how others choose to see you.
For too long, many LGBTQIA+ Filipinos have been asked to be patient while their rights are debated, delayed, or dismissed. The long-overdue passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill is not a request for special treatment. It is a demand for basic protection. No student should be humiliated for their gender expression. No worker should lose opportunities because of who they are. ๐ก๐ผ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐น๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐, ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐, ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ด๐ป๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐

But lasting change cannot depend on legislation alone. It must also be lived in our schools, homes, workplaces, barangays, and youth spaces. We call on leaders, institutions, educators, families, and young people to move beyond tolerance and take active responsibility in building communities that protect, include, and affirm.
As a youth organization committed to human rights, democracy, and social progress, we believe that Pride is more than visibility. It is a call to organize, to speak up, to protect one another, and to build a country where no one has to hide just to belong.
June may end today, but the work does not.
