The Manila Police District (MPD) confirms the arrest of a patrolman, assigned at Southern Police District (SPD) following an incident that transpired in Sampaloc, Manila, on May 19, 2026.
The incident allegedly occurred in front of a bar located at the corner of Moret and Loyola Streets, Barangays 397 and 398, Sampaloc, Manila. Based on initial reports, the suspect, allegedly without provocation, drew a firearm and pointed it at the first victim, a local vendor.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect confronted a second victim, a parking attendant, regarding a missing motorcycle helmet that had allegedly been left in the area the previous night. When alias โAliโ stated that he had no knowledge of its whereabouts, the suspect allegedly followed him, drew his firearm, and threatened him at gunpoint, causing alias โAliโ to flee the scene.
Both victims immediately reported the separate incidents to the UBA Police Community Precinct (P*P). Acting promptly on the complaints, UBA P*P conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the immediate arrest of the suspect on the same day.
Recovered from suspectโs possession is a 9mm Zigana PX-9 pistol loaded with thirteen (13) rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was subsequently brought to the Barbosa Police Station (PS-14) for proper disposition. Complaints for two (2) counts of Grave Threats are currently being prepared against the suspect.
The Manila Police District reiterates that it does not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of authority, or unlawful behavior within its jurisdiction. The MPD remains committed to ensuring a swift, impartial, and transparent investigation in accordance with the law.
