𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗗 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗨𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲

The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) conducted a briefing-orientation for the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) on February 18, 2026, via Zoom, which stemmed from DOST-PCHRD's interest in joining the Network.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Salvador R. Serrano, Chair of the NUTRINET Technical Committee and Officer in charge of the DOST-FNRI’s Technology Diffusion and Science and Technology Division (TDSTSD). Representing DOST-PCHRD is Ms. Grace Ruth B. Daulat, Science Research Specialist II

Also in attendance were representatives from various NUTRINET member institutions. During the orientation, the Chair of the NUTRINET Technical Committee provided a comprehensive overview of the network, outlining its core programs, major activities, and notable accomplishments.

NUTRINET brings together libraries and institutions to share resources in food, nutrition, health, and related fields.

Ms. Daulat affirmed their institution’s membership in the Network and expressed her commitment in contributing and strengthening health-related research initiatives through collaboration and information exchange.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗙𝗡𝗥𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗨𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) conducted a briefing-orientation for the University of the East (UE) on March 27, 2025, via Zoom, which stemmed from UE’s interest in joining the Network.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Milflor S. Gonzales, Chair of the NUTRINET Technical Committee and Chief Science Research Specialist of the DOST-FNRI’s Technology Diffusion and Science and Technology Division (TDSTSD). Representing UE were Ms. Venus B. Oruga, Director of Libraries, and Ms. Jessica Tampico, Librarian, who also provided a virtual tour of the university’s library via AVP.

Also in attendance were representatives from various NUTRINET member institutions, including the Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. (UERMMMCI), and University of Perpetual Help - Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University.

During the orientation, the NUTRINET Technical Committee members presented an overview of the network, highlighting its programs, activities, and key achievements. NUTRINET is a consortium of institutions that have linked their libraries and documentation centers to establish a specialized information system focused on information resource sharing on food, nutrition, and related fields.

Ms. Oruga confirmed that they will join the Network and looks forward to collaborating on upcoming NUTRINET activities.

NUTRINET is composed of institutions whose libraries have linked up to form a specialized information system on nutrition and related fields.

The Network aims to promote and improve the flow of nutrition research and development (R&D) information in the country by facilitating information exchange among different nutrition agencies and allied institutions.

As we welcome OLFU into our community, we invite other institutions with libraries or information centers dedicated to food, nutrition, and related disciplines to consider joining our network.

Membership criteria include:

- Libraries of R&D institutions, academic institutions, private industry, and special institutions in food, nutrition, and related fields.

- Libraries willing to share their resources with the consortium.

- Libraries with designated permanent and alternate representatives in the NUTRINET Technical Committee.

The Nutrition Research Information Network (NUTRINET) conducted a virtual Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training entitled ‘AI for the Future: Empowering NUTRINET Members with Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals’ on December 9, 2024.

Asst. Prof. Dan Anthony Dorado of the School of Library and Information Studies of the University of the Philippines Diliman imparted his knowledge on Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs) Concepts, Generative AI Concepts, and AI Ethics.

This training aimed to familiarize the NUTRINET members with AI Technology and help in developing a strategic framework for identifying AI solutions.

These solutions can enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and service delivery while exploring their potential applications in library settings.
