Should the San Antonio Spurs consider a one-year rental of Chris Paul to help Victor Wembanyama get some easy baskets inside the paint?

Paul is 38 years old but he is highly regarded as one of the best point guards in the NBA history. Popovich describes him as a great leader and competitor and many analysts believe that he can mentor the young playmakers of the Spurs.

But the question is Paul's willingness to give up on his ring-chasing goals in order to play with a new generational talent like Wembanyama. And how much will the Spurs pay to get him?

"I don’t know. I see him very similarly after watching him play, similar to Ralph Sampson. I don’t know if he is going to be as physical as Ralph ended up being. To me, the question as I am watching him play, especially in the ’80s, could have taken the beating and physicality of the game back in the ‘80s as opposed to now. I think he’ll do okay now because there is a lot less pushing, grinding, bumping, and posting that he’ll have to do.

Even though last night (NBA debut vs. Dallas) I watched him during some of the rebounds and posting situations, he was rooted out of spots several times. That would have been our every play in the ‘80 and it was still happening here in today’s game. He might have had a difficult time adjusting. You must temper that with the fact that today’s athlete didn’t grow up playing that way but if he was in the 80’s he would have grown up playing that way so he may have done alright as well because he would have been used to it."
