Joseph (WSJ) Movement is a non-profit organization composed of Catholic men and women who do not have much to share but with a great desire to be of help to others who have much less in life. Joseph (WSJ) Movement envisions a community here in Isulan where every elderly person belonging to the poorest of the poor, the sick and bedridden in their homes is given much needed personal, emotional and s
piritual assistance. Its Mission:
The Workers of the movement spend time with its beneficiaries once a month by visiting them, talking to them, praying with them and giving financial assistance, if need be. Any Catholic person who commits himself/herself to help in the movement's works on a regular basis such as providing funds personally or help in soliciting funds, deliver services to the beneficiaries or both. A Worker does the works on a monthly basis, thus, the need for commitment is foremost. Workers are categorized as donors (those who help provide funds for the movement's works), volunteers (those who does the visiting, praying and delivering assistance) and donors-volunteers who do both. WSJ in Action:
In the past six (6) years, the movement has extended financial assistance to its various beneficiaries monthly and has done Christmas gift-giving activities in the form of rice/grocery baskets to selected families in the urban poor area in Kalawag III, bath towels/hygiene essentials to prisoners in the provincial jail, rice and groceries to identified families from Barangays Kenram, Dansuli and Mapantig, Jollibee packages and toys to patients in the pediatric ward of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital and partnered with the St. Joseph the Worker Chapel in their 2020 Christmas gift-giving activities to families and children greatly affected by the pandemic giving noche buena packages and toys. Upon its inception, there were only eight (8) beneficiaries who were all elderly belonging to poor families. However, as the year 2020 ended and with the corona virus pandemic, only four (4) remained. Thus, in the year 2021, with more and more people becoming aware of WSJ and its mission, there is an increase in the number of Workers who have committed themselves to help in its cause. With the increase also in volunteers, the work was not limited only to giving financial assistance but also to visit, pray with the beneficiaries and bringing them gifts. As of to date and with the above development, the number of beneficiaries is increased to eighteen (18) elderly who are given cash assistance monthly and thirteen (13) sick and bedridden in their homes being visited and given gifts in kinds. WSJ is looking forward with great hope and anticipation for more Workers to come and more support from generous persons to further its mission. To God be all the glory, praise and thanks! JOSEPH, our patron saint, continue to inspire us with your example and may the Lord Jesus whom you loved and served unselfishly while on earth may be glorified with what we are doing and in His great love and mercy sustain us as we continue to do His work. Amen.
