Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park - BTLNP This is the official page of Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park (BTLNP). The BTLNP was proclaimed by the former President Joseph E.

BTLNP is most known for its two pristine natural bodies of water called Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao separated by a narrow mountain ridge. Estrada as a Natural Park by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 414 pursuant to RA 7586 on November 21, 2000. It was lagislated onJune 22, 2018, under Republic Act 11038: "The Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018". The Park c

overs approximately 8,0l6.05 hectares of public domain comprising the municipalities of Sibulan, San Jose and Valencia all of Negros Oriental Province. Being the second richest biodiversity in the country, it is considered as the only remaining natural rainforest and is blessed with abundant water resources. An estimate of 500,000 individuals have used the water supply from the area. Its luscious mountains and surrounding forests are habitats of critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable species of flora and fauna.

LOOK | The Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park (BTLNP) successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Meeting on May 20, 2026, at Oasis Accommodations Inc., Dumaguete City. The meeting gathered PAMB members, partner agencies, stakeholders, and collaborators in a collective effort to further strengthen the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of the ASEAN Heritage Park. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿค

The Board discussed significant matters concerning biodiversity conservation, environmental monitoring, ecotourism management, and public safety within the protected area. Among the agenda endorsed and approved during the meeting were the following:

โœ… Conduct of the Flora and Fauna Monitoring Assessment
โœ… Water Quality Monitoring Results for CY 2025โ€“2026

These initiatives highlight the continuous commitment of the Board and its partners toward science-based conservation, informed decision-making, and the long-term sustainability of BTLNPโ€™s rich natural resources and ecosystem services.

The Protected Area Management Office extends its sincere gratitude to all PAMB members and partners including representatives of the Provincial Governor, 2nd District Representative, representatives of the Municipal Mayors of Sibulan and Valencia, Barangay Captains of Brgy. Malaunay, Malabo, Dobdob, Janay-Janay, and Siapo, government agencies such as Department of Science and Technology-NIR and Police Regional Office-NIR, the Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc. (PBCFI), the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), the Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes Farmers Association, Inc. (BTLFAI), Silliman University Angelo King Center for Research and Environmental Management (SUAKCREM), Silliman University Center for Tropical and Conservation Studies (CENTROP), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) PENRO Negros Oriental and Siquijor, and DENR Legal Unit for their unwavering support, active participation, and shared dedication in safeguarding BTLNP for present and future generations.
