With a membership-based nonprofit organization of 200,000 young people ages 18 to 40 in 5,000 communities and more than 100 countries around the world. History of JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes
The JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes (San Pablo Jaycees) was born and its charter officers installed in to office on a Saturday evening, November 13, 1948 at the roof garden of the City Hall. The Chapter was formally formed
on October 3, 1948 in grandiose affair attended by Jaycee dignitaries such as Ramon V. del Rosario, Manila Jaycee President; Jose N. Mayuga, JCI Regional Director for Asia, Africa and Oceana; Gregorio Feliciano, JCI Vice President; Oscar Arellano, Manila Jaycees Vice President for External Affairs; Artemio Vergel de Dios and Rafael Estrada, Director. Inducted into office as Charter Officers were Miguel Suarez, President; William Buns, Executive Vice President; Manuel Bienvenida, VP-Internal; Feliciano Alcantara, VP-External, Juan B. Hernandez, Secretary; Hipolito Magno, Treasurer, Pedro Alvero, Jose R. Azores, Archimedes Brion, Enrique Capistrano, Gregorio Leonor, Maximo Magcase, German Reyes and Feliciano Ticzon, Directors. Determined to prove community leadership, the young chapter ventured into its first project called "Keep the City Clean Campaign". More then 100 garbage cans were distributed all over the city proper. Such initiative served to inspire the city residents to keep the city clean and beautiful. The First National Convention of the Phillipine Jaycees was held in Manila on February 11-13, 1949. San Pablo delegates participated actively in the deliberations of vital and current national issues that their voice was heard and ideas highly considered. It was on that convention that the proposals to make 40, instead of 35, as the maximum agefor Jaycee membership and to delete the words COMMERCE from the name of the organization were brought to floor for deliberation. Hernandez was the father of two proposals. On March 1-8, 1950, the JCI 5th World Congress was held in Manila. Highlighting this national event in Jayceeism was a Trade and Industrial Exhibition at Manila Hotel's Fiesta Pavilion. The booth of the local Jaycees came out winner of the First Award for originality in food production. As one of the big attractions in the exhibition, it became the most photographed booth. On that same year, a 23-man local JCI delegation headed by President Archimedes Brion motored to Malacanan Palace and presented a resolution to President Elpidio Quirino appealing to him to cause the appropriation of money for the construction of a Puericulture Center in the resolution coupled with intelligent and dignified representaion of San Pablo Jaycees got the approving nod of the President. The Puericulture Center was constructed and inaugurated a year later under the incumbency of President Hipolito Magno. There have been noteworthy projects of the chapter. Namely the establishment of Pag-Ibig at Pag-Asa, a school for special children have been initiated. Also the chapter has been known and well recognized as a mover for sports development. We have been constantly conducting basketball tournaments and bike competitions. Our latest bike fest project that has been implemented for the past years is the KABYAW SA KALIKASAN which is joined by amateur and professional cyclists from all over the country and participating at the city fiesta, COCOFEST a tourist attraction during the month of January. JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes has been a member of the JCI Philippines for 74 years. And the club continous to live, not because it has to, because it has noble mission to fulfill. It will have to meet a thousand odds, but certainly, it can be brave them all, for indeed challenges have become its strength and test its life. And like a house built on a rock it will stand firm and strong. It shall pass thru uneven condition and time transcend through ages , only to prove the genuity of its ideals, the provity of the JCI through the effectiveness of its efforts and the greatness of it's organization.
