FORMER CTG CONTACT VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERS FIREARM, AMMUNITION, AND GR***DE IN CAGAYAN
A former contact of the dismantled Komiteng RehiyonโCagayan Valley (KR-CV) voluntarily surrendered a firearm, ammunition, and a hand gr***de to the troops of the 17th Infantry Battalion, reaffirming the growing support of communities toward lasting peace and security in Cagayan.
Through the sustained conduct of Community Support Sustainment Program, troops of Alpha Company, 17th Infantry Battalion facilitated the voluntary surrender of one (1) firearm, six (6) rounds of ammunition, and one (1) hand gr***de at Headquarters Alpha Company, Barangay Matucay, Allacapan, Cagayan on 16 June 2026.
The 53-year-old resident of Lasam, Cagayan voluntarily surrendered one (1) HP/FA M1903 caliber .30 bolt-action rifle, six (6) rounds of ammunition, and one (1) hand gr***de.
Based on the initial validation conducted by the unit, the individual was previously associated with the dismantled Komiteng RehiyonโCagayan Valley (KR-CV) through his role as a former contact in the area. He disclosed that the surrendered items were entrusted to him during the period when CTG influence remained active in the locality.
The successful surrender highlights the continuing decline of CTG influence in the province and demonstrates the confidence of former CTG supporters and contacts in the government's peace and development efforts.
The 17th Infantry Battalion encourages individuals who may still be keeping loose fi****ms, explosives, or war materiel to voluntarily surrender these items to authorities to prevent accidents, promote public safety, and contribute to the maintenance of peace and order in the community.
Every surrendered firearm and explosive contributes to a safer and more peaceful Cagayan. The people of Cagayan continue to demonstrate that they have chosen peace, security, and progress over fear, violence, and deception.
