UPDATE: Hindi pa man nagsimula ang bagsik ng El Niño ay ramdam na ang tagtuyot sa ilang bahagi ng bansa. Ayon sa pinakahuling assessment ng DOST-PAGASA ngayong Abril 2026, umaabot na sa 70 probinsya ang nakakaranas ng matinding epekto ng kakulangan sa ulan.

El Nino to Super El Nino for 2026! Maghanda po tayong lahat!

𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐋 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐎, 𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐀 𝐇𝐔𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Ayon sa , isang Very Strong to Super El Niño ang aasahan sa huling quarter ng taong ito. Nasa 92% ang forecast chance (moderate to strong) ang probability nito na posibleng umabot sa unang bahagi ng 2027.

Matatandaang naglabas ang PAGASA ng El Niño Watch noong Marso 25 kung saan ang probability nito ay nasa 55% na para sa susunod na anim (6) na buwan. Inaasahan namang nasa below-normal ang rainfall condition natin habang tayo ay nasa El Niño .

Ayon naman kay Chief PAGASA Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section Ana Liza Solis, makakaasa tayo ng mas kaunti pero mas malalakas na mga bagyo (Typhoons/Super Typhoons) sa panahong ito. Hindi man mag-landfall ay ito ang magdadala ng malalakas na pag-ulan sa Kanlurang bahagi ng bansa dahil hinahatak (ine-enhance) nito ang Hanging .

Sa pagtatapos naman ng Habagat Season o ngayong taon, mas mararamdaman na talaga ang epekto ng tagtuyot o dry season dito sa atin. Mas magiging mahaba ang itatagal nito hanggang sa unang quarter ng 2027. Posible namang hindi maging sinlamig ng 2025-26 ang maranasan natin ngayong 2026-27 season.

PAALALA: Tayo ay nasa transitioning phase pa lang ng ENSO-Neutral hanggang sa buwan ng Mayo. Magiging 62% ang tsansa ng El Niño sa mga buwan ng June-July-August at mas tataas pa ang tsansa (expected Super El Niño) mula September-December.

Empowering Communities through Nature-Based Solutions!

Yesterday, April 16, we had a highly productive Hands-on Training on Mangrove Assessment and Nursery Management in Sitio Dinuksulan, Brgy. Guadalupe, Coron! We were incredibly honored to have no less than CENRO Clarissa P. Pador lead the discussions, sharing her expertise on proper Mangrove Nursery Management with our 47 community partners (26M/21F). Additionally, Mr. Mark Glenn T. Managdag delivered a comprehensive "Mangrove 101" lecture and expertly guided the afternoon's hands-on mangrove assessments with CENRO Calamianes GEM Staff.

Highlights from yesterday's fieldwork included site Identification - With technical assistance from the DENR CENRO team, we successfully identified and assessed a 4-hectare planting site designated for the reforestation and rehabilitation of LCA Dinuksulan! Expert Nursery Evaluation: The team conducted a practical, on-site check of our nursery operations to ensure scientifically sound practices . Community Action: Members of the Samahan ng mga Mangingisda ng Sitio Dinuksulan (SMD) and the Dinuksulan Women Association actively rolled up their sleeves to lay transects, identify true mangrove species, and measure canopy cover.

This milestone is a vital part of the "Establishment and Community-led Management of the Dinuksulan Mangrove Forest Local Conservation Area (LCA) as a Nature-based Solution for Climate Resilience." We are proud to implement this as a local partner of the Forest Foundation Philippines, under the Philippines-Canada Partnership on Nature-based Solutions (PCP4NbS) funded by the Government of Canada.

A massive thank you to DENR CENRO Coron and GEM Project for your indispensable technical oversight, and generous mangrove nursery tools donation for Dinuksulan LCA and CENRO Clarisse Pador, and to our passionate community members for their continued dedication.

Communities for Resilience (CFR), Inc. thanks the Local Government of Busuanga for tapping us to assist the Dechelem and San Rafael communities with their TUPAD Cycle 3 applications. We are proud to have helped 34 Food Forest beneficiaries and Dechelem residents join DOLE's emergency employment program, guiding them through the online validation process in Sitio Lubao, Salvacion on April 14, 2026.

Noong nakaraang Abril 11-12, 2026, nagkaisa ang mga COMSCA groups—Demegan at Padalu (Salvacion) at Dimalangtong-Lingo (Sagrada)—para sa isang Contingency Planning Session upang paghandaan ang mga epekto ng gulo sa Middle East, pagtaas ng bilihin, Dengue, at El Niño.

Binalangkas ng mga miyembro ang mga konkretong solusyon na magsisimula sa tahanan, mga inisyatibo para sa kanilang grupo, at pormal na panawagan sa gobyerno:

🌍 1. Giyera sa Middle East at Pagtaas ng Bilihin

Tahanan: Pagbabadyet, pag-iimpok, at pagtatanim ng sariling gulay.
COMSCA: Pagtatayo ng kooperatiba, livelihood programs, at pag-iipon ng emergency funds.
Gobyerno: Panawagan para sa price control, pagtaas ng sahod, at ayuda sa pagsasaka.

🦟 2. Banta ng Dengue

Tahanan: Pagsasagawa ng 4S habit, paglilinis ng paligid, at paggamit ng kulambo.
COMSCA: Pag-oorganisa ng community clean-up drives at paglalaan ng pondo para sa kalusugan ng mga miyembro.
Gobyerno: Paghiling ng regular na fogging at libreng medical supplies/kulambo.

☀️ 3. El Niño / Tagtuyot

Tahanan: Mahigpit na pagtitipid at pag-recycle ng tubig.
COMSCA: Pangunguna sa tree-planting activities at paglilinis sa mga watershed.
Gobyerno: Panawagan na protektahan ang mga kagubatan at magtayo ng karagdagang pasilidad para sa suplay ng tubig.

Isang matagumpay at makabuluhang Action Planning ang isinagawa kahapon kasama ang ating mga masisipag na Food Forest community partners sa San Rafael, Busuanga, Palawan, sa pangunguna ni Hon. Alexis Tolarba!

Sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan, natukoy ng ating komunidad ang mga pangunahing hamon na ating kinakaharap at nagbalangkas ng mga kongkretong hakbang (Madaliang Aksyon at Hakbang Pasulong) para matugunan ang mga ito:

Paghahanda sa banta ng El Niño at Kakulangan sa Tubig:
• Pagpapatupad ng schedule ng patubig at ibayong pagtitipid ng tubig.
• Paggamit ng organic fertilizers (animal manure) at mga natural na pantakip sa pananim (mulching) tulad ng upas ng saging, dayami, at tuyong dahon upang maprotektahan ang mga tanim laban sa matinding init.

Pagtugon sa Pagtaas ng Presyo ng Bilihin (Food Security):
• Pagtatanim ng mga alternatibong gulay at root crops tulad ng kamote, kangkong, papaya, talong, okra, at sitaw.
• Inisyatibo ng bultuhang pagbili (bulk buying) ng bigas at iba pang pangangailangan upang maibenta sa murang halaga sa mga kasamahan sa komunidad.

Kahandaang Pinansyal at Social Funds:
• Paghikayat sa ugaling mag-impok at sumali sa CoMSCA (Community Managed Savings and Credit Association) para may mahugot sa biglaang pangangailangan.
• Pag-alok ng pautang na may mababang interes para sa mga miyembro na apektado ng krisis.

Kalusugan at Kalinisan (Dengue Prevention):
• Palagiang paglilinis ng sariling bakuran at kapaligiran sa tulong ng mga Barangay Officials at Purok Leaders.
• Mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng 4S strategy ng DOH laban sa Dengue (Taob, Taktak, Takip).
• Pagsisiguro ng paggamit ng Social Funds at pagiging PhilHealth member para may kaligutang medikal ang bawat pamilya imbes na mabawasan ang budget sa pagkain.

Ang mga plano at hakbang na ito ay nagpapatunay na kapag ang komunidad ay nagkakaisa at may malinaw na direksyon, walang hamon ang hindi natin kayang lampasan. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga Food Forest Community partners at mga opisyal ng Barangay San Rafalel na nakiisa. Sama-sama tayong babangon at uunlad sa harap ng krisis na ito!

Pumalo na sa 4.1% ang inflation rate sa ating bansa para sa unang quarter, at dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng langis, maaari pa itong sumipa ng 6% pataas. Paghandaan ang pagmahal ng mga bilihin sa pamamagitan ng pag-aayos ng inyong budget at pag-iipon para sa inyong emergency fund. Higit sa lahat, ito na ang pinakamagandang oras para MAGTANIM (Produce) at TUMANGKILIK NG LOKAL NA PRODUKTO (Buy Local) upang makatipid, makaiwas sa mahal na imported goods, at masuportahan ang ating mga kababayan!
