REMEMBERING DOLLY PARTON | A LEGACY OF LITERACY 📚
Before she became known as the “Book Lady” to millions of children, Dolly Parton believed that every child deserved the opportunity to discover the joy of reading.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, launched in 1996, children from birth to age five receive a new book every month—regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
Rotary International became a partner in the initiative in 2009, helping expand the reach of the program through Rotary clubs that supported funding, promotion, and child registration.
Dolly Parton later joined Rotary on stage at the 2010 Rotary International Convention in Montréal, sharing her passion for literacy and her vision that no child should grow up without books.
Her generosity, optimism, and commitment to literacy leave a lasting impact on generations of children and families. 📚💛
