A dog was reported to us in a very rough state, in distress and struggling to catch his breath. He didn't look like he had very long to live. Our suspicion was right and he tested positive for distemper at St. Clare Veterinary Clinic ๐ Our heart sank knowing he didn't have a family. We updated the reporter and said we don't have a choice: we'll have to find a place for him to lay, away from the road and foot traffic, where the rain or sun won't touch him. But the reporter was insistent: just bring him back. And we did. We were shocked. We were led to a home. He had a family, a home and a name: CLOUD. The owners were "surprised" and said they had been looking for him but perhaps they didn't recognize him because Cloud lose weight ๐ก We turned over Cloud to them with an IV drip that would help in his chances of survival. Sadly, we heard Cloud passed away shortly after.
Cloud didn't deserve this. He didn't get the preventive care he needed to protect him from health risks. He wasn't lost, he was neglected and abandoned. Pet dogs don't know how to survive in the streets. And they can't understand why their humans are nowhere to be found. Cloud died be abuse of irresponsible pet ownership.
No more pain, Cloud. Run free ๐
