A dog was reported to us in a very rough state, in distress and struggling to catch his breath. He didn't look like he had very long to live. Our suspicion was right and he tested positive for distemper at St. Clare Veterinary Clinic ๐Ÿ˜” Our heart sank knowing he didn't have a family. We updated the reporter and said we don't have a choice: we'll have to find a place for him to lay, away from the road and foot traffic, where the rain or sun won't touch him. But the reporter was insistent: just bring him back. And we did. We were shocked. We were led to a home. He had a family, a home and a name: CLOUD. The owners were "surprised" and said they had been looking for him but perhaps they didn't recognize him because Cloud lose weight ๐Ÿ˜ก We turned over Cloud to them with an IV drip that would help in his chances of survival. Sadly, we heard Cloud passed away shortly after.

Cloud didn't deserve this. He didn't get the preventive care he needed to protect him from health risks. He wasn't lost, he was neglected and abandoned. Pet dogs don't know how to survive in the streets. And they can't understand why their humans are nowhere to be found. Cloud died be abuse of irresponsible pet ownership.

No more pain, Cloud. Run free ๐Ÿ’™

Salamat sa reporter for advocating for Cloud when his owners wouldn't. Salamat sa amon rescuer Cy Anisco dela Cruz miski malain imo pamatyag naglarga ka gid, kay Arjohn Estaรฑol miski damo ka na pasyente gintagaan mo gid ni tyempo. Kag kay Doc Rosamie Deluso Derecho-Luces for always giving the same standard of care to our rescued animals.

โ€ผ๏ธ Injured small breed gin ubra guard dog โ€ผ๏ธ

We found the dog chained outside the house and on the sidewalk with dirty water and DAMOG evidently thrown on the ground for the dog to eat. According to the owners, the broken foot is from an earlier injury but it is evident that no effort was given to give it the medical attention it required.

Small breeds specifically cannot survive the outside world. Due to their size, dasig sila mainitan o malamigan. They are easy targets for bigger dogs and maltreatment from humans. They are more susceptible to behavioral problems deprived of human interaction. Different breeds have different needs but no dog deserves this cruelty. This is pet negligence and maltreatment:

โœ… Deprived of treatment from injury
โœ… restrained in such a way that is not safe & causes discomfort
โœ… exposed to weather conditions
โœ… no access to clean water
โœ… no access to specie-appropriate food
โœ… sa duta nahaboy para ipakaon ila sud an

Pet owner/s is liable to Republic Act 10631 section 4.2 Imprisonment of 1 year and 6 months and/or fine not exceeding P50,000 for subjecting any animal/s to cruelty, neglect maltreatment who survives but severely injured and needing human intervention to survive on its own.

PEROโ€ผ๏ธ If the owner is:
โœ… A Syndicate
โœ… An offender who makes business out of cruelty to animals
โœ… Alien
โœ… Public officer or employee
โœ… Liable to 3 animals involved or more
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Pasok gid kamo sa 2 years imprisonment and/or P250,000 in fines and for deportation kung foreigner ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's never too late to read and understand the law โš–๏ธ Subdivision HOA's kag barangays - may ari gid kamo responsibilidad bantayan inyo mga pumuluyo. Sa mga kapitbahay sang sini klase nga mga pet owners, indi kamo ma hadlok. Dapat sila mahadlok nga ireport niyo!

We cannot stop animal cruelty on our own. We need all Capiznons to ACT to protect animals as dictated by the law. Indi ni ya hobby, passion or advocacy lang - we're enforcing a law not prioritized by our LGUs. Indi kamo mahadlok magsaway.

The owners said they did not know there was a law. Ignorance of the law excuses no one.

In the end, the owners agreed to let the dog in the house. The saddest part for us was when the dog was being brought in the house, he was still so happy so be with the family that exposed him to neglect for the longest time ๐Ÿ’”

What is P100,000 when a life was lost and if it weren't for our voices, almost didn't get justice?

Still, win sa gihapon para sa animal welfare community. Kabay pa maabot ang adlaw nga madula ang pamintas sa kasapatan.

๐—š๐—จ๐—œ๐—Ÿ๐—ง๐—ฌ. JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED!

After months of waiting, Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy has finally received an important update in Axle's case.
The individual responsible for the cruelty inflicted on Axle has been found GUILTY by the court and ordered to pay a โ‚ฑ100,000 fine.

For those who have been asking about the case, the silence was not due to a lack of action. The legal process took time. Evidence was carefully reviewed, procedures were followed, and the case was allowed to move through the proper judicial channels to ensure that justice was pursued the right way.

This verdict is more than a victory for Axle. It is a reminder that animal cruelty is a crime, not a minor offense to be ignored or excused. Those who abuse animals can and should be held accountable under the law.
While no court decision can erase the pain and suffering Axle endured, this ruling sends a powerful message: animals matter, their lives matter, and cruelty against them has consequences.

Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who supported Axle, shared his story, provided information, and continued to speak up when he could not. Your voices helped keep this case alive and demonstrated the power of collective action in the fight against animal cruelty.

Today, we celebrate justice for Axle. Tomorrow, we continue the fight for every animal still waiting to be protected.
Because justice for one animal is a step toward a more compassionate society for all.

Early beach time with the dogs ๐ŸŒž

Our rescues love the outdoor life. They enjoy being dogs - running around, playing, swimming. As owners, we also have more responsibility: to keep their discipline in check, maintain excellent name recall and the preparedness in case accidents happen. The dogs also need more nutrition and maintenance as they're active and out most of the time. But that's okay because the smiles on their faces make all of it worth it ๐Ÿ’™

We currently have 25 dogs and 6 cats in Cogon, some of which are seniors, with disabilities or survivors of distemper. We continue to push for adoption as they all live with us at home and to maintain the quality of care for each.

If you have the legroom to spare for dog food and cat food, our rescues will surely appreciate them ๐Ÿ’™ Maayong aga, mga ka-Silong!
