This activity is open to beginners and those who want to improve their knowledge in giant freshwater prawn farming.

The position entails assisting in the conduct of experiments, production, and training activities; preparing study-related documents and reports; assisting in the procurement of necessary supplies and materials; collecting, analyzing, and summarizing project data; supporting the Study Leader in literature searches, manuscript preparation, and statistical analysis; and performing other related tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Our Training Course on Tilapia Hatchery and Grow-out Operations held from August 4–8, 2025, has officially wrapped up!

Over the course of five productive days, participants gained hands-on knowledge and practical skills in tilapia breeding, hatchery management, and grow-out operations — all vital components in advancing sustainable and efficient aquaculture practices.

A big congratulations to all our dedicated participants who completed the course! We hope the knowledge you’ve gained here helps you grow not only in skills but also in confidence as you move forward in your aquaculture journey.

🐟 Hands-on learning in action! As part of the SEAFDEC/AQD BFS Training Course on Tilapia Hatchery & Grow-out Operations, our trainees embarked on a field trip to gain real-world experience — from seed to harvest.

This batch is composed of 12 participants: nine from various regions in the Philippines, two from Brunei Darussalam, and one from the American Samoa.

The site visit in Laguna gave them the opportunity to observe hatchery operations in fingerling production at BFAR 4A Regional Training and Demonstration Farm, as well as gain industry insights at E-Primate Inc., a commercial tilapia grow-out facility.

July marks the 49th Anniversary of SEAFDEC/AQD’s Binangonan Freshwater Station — nearly five decades of advancing science-based freshwater aquaculture for a more sustainable future.

BFS was established on July 26, 1976 in Brgy. Pipindan, Binagonan, Rizal. Thank you to our dedicated employees, partners, and stakeholders who continue to support our mission. Here's to more years of innovation, growth, and impact! 💙🌱

This year's celebration was graced by Dr. Mary Nia Santos, Senior Science Research Specialist of DA-NFRDI, a former SEAFDEC employee and currently one of the station's collaborators in various aquaculture research.

BFS: Bridging Freshwater Sustainability. This theme continues to inspire the employees of the station in paving paths towards discovery and improvement in freshwater aquaculture with the leadership of Dr. Frolan Aya.
