'UNITED FOR HIGHER WAGES AND LOWER TAXES'

From Manila to Davao, and through the streets of Cebu, Iloilo, and Bacolod, thousands of workers from UNI-PLC affiliates—including NFL, NACUSIP, CIO, PACIWU, UFSW, KMM, GTEU, and many more—stood as one this Labor Day. Our message was clear and uncompromising: the hands that build this nation deserve a life of dignity.

We marched for more than just a paycheck; we marched for a living wage that reflects our worth and a tax system that stops squeezing the working class. From the docks to the hospitals and the fields to the factories, our collective power was on full display across every major region of the country.

Our struggle is not confined to one city or one sector; it is a nationwide movement for justice. We will continue to organize, mobilize, and stand our ground until the wealth of this country is shared by those who create it! ✊

'PROGRESS AT THE SENATE FOR THE MAGNA CARTA OF BHWS'

UNI-PLC and the National BHW Confederation visited the Senate today to witness the interpellation of the Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers. Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Demography, led the defense of the bill alongside Sen. JV Ejercito, Chairperson of the Committee on Local Government.

The bill is expected to undergo the period of amendments next week to further improve and refine its provisions, marking another significant step in the ongoing advocacy to secure the rights, dignity, and welfare of our community health frontliners.

The struggle continues until the Magna Carta is won! 💪

'A CARING FATHER AND A STOUT LABOR ORGANIZER'

Today, the UNI-PLC family is in deep mourning as we say goodbye to a brother, a mentor, and a tireless defender of workers' rights, Bro. Edgar Aran.

As the Vice President of the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Employees Association (OLLHEA-UFSW), Edgar was a pillar of strength within his own workplace. He understood the unique weight carried by those on the hospital frontlines: the long hours, the emotional toll, and the constant struggle for the dignity they deserve. He didn't just represent his colleagues; he protected them.

But Edgar’s mission didn't stop at the doors of his own hospital. As a dedicated organizer for UNI-PLC and UFSW, he was a driving force in our efforts to unite healthcare workers across the sector. He was the kind of organizer who led with his heart: walking the floors, listening to the quietest voices, and reminding every worker he met that they had the power to change their future. He was a builder of bridges and a weaver of solidarity.

He balanced the grit of a labor leader with the warmth of a man who lived for his family. To many of us, he was "Ka Edgar", a steady hand in a storm, a comrade who never turned his back on a fight, and a friend who always had a kind word.

Ka Edgar, your passing leaves a void in our ranks that will be incredibly hard to fill. But as we grieve, we also commit to the work you left behind. We will keep organizing, we will keep fighting for the hospital workers you loved so much, and we will carry your spirit with us to every negotiation table and every picket line.

Thank you for your service, your courage, and your life. Rest in power, Ka Edgar! The struggle continues! ✊🕊️

'HAPPY BHW DAY 2026!'

Today, UNI-PLC stands in solidarity with every barangay health worker serving on the frontlines. While we celebrate your tireless dedication, we know that recognition alone is not enough—it must be backed by law. Our primary call remains the immediate passage of the Magna Carta of BHWs to secure the rights you have long deserved! 💪

A celebration without legislation is incomplete. We will continue to organize and mobilize until every BHW is granted the job security, fair compensation, and professional dignity they have rightfully earned! ✊

Let’s watch this meaningful conversation.

'HEALTH SECRETARY HERBOSA CONTINUES TO SUPPORT MAGNA CARTA OF BARANGAY HEALTH WORKERS'

DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa continues to support the Magna Carta of BHWs, pushing for the professionalization and formal recognition of our community health workers. This measure is vital for securing the fair compensation, job security, and specialized training that BHWs need to effectively serve as the backbone of our primary care system.

We welcome this growing momentum and will continue to mobilize until this bill becomes law. It is time to ensure that those who care for our communities are finally protected and empowered by the state! ✊
