Change and uncertainty are part and parcel of life. Many of us feel anxious and worried about the future, our careers, relationships, illness, or even our own deaths. This is understandable; however, this anxiety can spiral into isolation, loneliness, and even despair. One framework that seeks to address these existential feelings is Viktor Frankl’s Meaning-Making Triangle:

Creative Values: What we give to the world through self-expression (art, service, vocation etc.).

Experiential Values: What we receive from the world through experience (nature, culture, relationships etc.)

Attitudinal Values: How we choose to interpret and approach what is beyond our control.

The goal of this framework is not to eliminate the sources of our existential anxieties. Instead, it seeks to find a balanced and authentic way of living with change and uncertainty. In the next few weeks, we will explore questions and themes that can allow us to reflect on this framework, take more ownership of our actions, and live more authentically and meaningfully amidst change and uncertainty.

Life rarely unfolds according to our plans. A cancelled meeting, an unexpected diagnosis, a delayed opportunity, or a change in responsibilities can feel like obstacles, yet these interruptions often become places where God quietly reshapes our hearts. Ignatius teaches us that God's grace continues to work even when our plans change, inviting us to trust that no moment is wasted in His hands.

NEW RESEARCH SHOWS PLAY-BASED LEARNING CAN BE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN DIRECT INSTRUCTION ESPECIALLY IN AREAS OF MATH AND SPATIAL SKILLS

"A group of researchers from the University of Cambridge analyzed decades of research on “guided play”—more commonly called play-based learning—and concluded that it can have a “greater positive effect” on the acquisition of skills like math, shape knowledge, and task switching than more traditional approaches that prioritize seat time and explicit instruction."

New research shows play-based learning can be more effective than direct instruction at improving outcomes for early learners—particularly in the development of mathematical and spatial skills.
