Retreat season is back. 🌱

And yesterday felt a little extra special.

I first met these students of St. Jude Catholic School last school year, when I had the privilege of facilitating their Grade 9 recollection. Yesterday, I got to see them again, but now as Grade 10 students on their first overnight retreat.

It’s a beautiful thing to return to a space and see that the people you met before have grown somehow.

That’s what I love about retreats and recollections.

They give us space to pause.
Space to reflect.
Space to reconnect.
Space to ask questions we don’t always have time to ask.

Because school isn’t just about what happens inside the classroom.

There are friendships being formed.
Decisions waiting to be made.
Questions about who we are and who we’re becoming.

And sometimes, we simply need a little space to stop, breathe, and listen.

Plus, shoutout to Ms. Dalette, who was the Campus Minister who helped bring me into the SJCS community. A small opening that eventually led to many other opportunities, including some I never expected.

I’m grateful for the trust she gave me, the doors she opened, and the many students and communities I’ve been able to encounter because of it.

Here’s to another school year of learning, growing, and making space for what matters.

Let’s go. 🌱
