On April 19, 2026, the Lao Foundation Team conducted its monthly scholar session: “𝗜 𝗔𝗺. 𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗻. 𝗜 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹. 𝗢𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.”

The session started with the scholars identifying their personal "confidence anchors" and challenges. Key highlights of the session are the reminders that their confidence should be anchored in their self-worth-----𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀-----and developed by practicing Nathaniel Branden’s Six Pillars of Self-Esteem, providing a practical framework for Living Consciously, Self-Acceptance, Self-Responsibility, Self-Assertiveness , Living Purposefully, and Personal Integrity

The session closed with a powerful reminder that Confidence is like a muscle—it requires consistent practice. It’s not about being fearless; it’s about knowing you have the resilience to bounce back, no matter what happens.

Proud of our scholars for their vulnerability and growth!

The LFI Team conducted its first session of I-Volunteer initiative under the Volunteer Development Program of the Special Assistance Program. This initiative represents a collaborative effort between LFI and the Human Resource Section, with the objective of (1) cultivating awareness and purpose in volunteer work; (2) enhancing empathy, collaboration, and social responsibility; (3) developing essential skills and values for community engagement and ethical service; and (4) providing avenues for reflection, leadership, and sustainability in volunteer initiatives.

The first session of the four-part series for i-Volunteer was entitled “The Heart of Service: Knowing Myself as a Volunteer.” The session began with an activity that involved participants learning about each other’s names and their origins. Subsequently, three participants shared their remarkable volunteer journeys and the sources of inspiration that motivated them to volunteer.

The primary objective of this session was to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of volunteering through the lens of the Lao Foundation (LFI). The team highlighted four pivotal aspects of volunteering: (1) the profound human interconnectedness inherent in service, (2) the expression of personal values through altruism, (3) the nurturing of a compassionate culture within LFI, and (4) the cultivation of empathy. These four concepts serve as essential components for individuals to discern their purpose and motivation in volunteer endeavors.

Concluding the session, participants were reminded of compassion as the driving force behind the Lao Foundation’s mission and how comprehending compassion can enhance their commitment to volunteering.

The LFI team was honored to attend the Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc. graduation last March 26, 2026, at Canlubang, Laguna. We also extend our deepest appreciation to Del Monte Foundation, Inc., Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc., and the parents of the scholars for the successful collaboration in 2023 and for supporting our very first batch of scholars in Bukidnon.

This month’s Kumustahan Session entitled “Integrity as Strength” was held on March 26, 2026. The discussion explored the idea of integrity as an inner strength to do what is right, even when it’s hard.

The LFI team provided an insightful lesson emphasizing how strong character and principled choices build a true and lasting foundation for success. The “Bunong Braso” (Arm Wrestling) activity was used to connect to the topic that just as a strong man uses his strength to succeed in a match, we must also use our conviction and give our best to fight for our integrity.

We would like to thank our in-plant-trainees (IPTs) for their active participation and great sportsmanship throughout the activity. We truly hope that the Kumustahan Session inspired everyone to hold fast to their commitment, no matter what challenges or “even ifs” they might face in life.

See you next month, IPTs!

Lao Foundation, Oleofats Inc.-ESG Group, Dualtech Training Center Foundation, and Davao del Sur State College collaborated for a special scholarship promotion with cooperatives in North Cotabato and Davao del Sur held last March 18-19, 2026------Libungan Multipurpose Cooperative (LIMCO), Makilala Multipurpose Cooperative (Mak MPC), Bansalan Coconut Farmers & Workers Multipurpose Cooperative (BCMC), and Bansalan Coop Society Multipurpose Cooperative (BCS).

LFI also extended the opportunity to DSSC’s partner community, the Bagobo Tagabawa Fairtrade Marketing Cooperative (BaTaFaMa) coconut/coffee farmers last March 20, 2026 at Kapatagan, Davao del Sur.

This initiative was made for the purpose of giving back to our farming community. The group hopes to extend support to the children of coconut farmers and their families by equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to secure a brighter, more sustainable future. This collaboration also brings together education, technical training, and community support to cultivate future leaders in agriculture and in their communities.

We would like to extend our appreciation to OFI-ESG, Dualtech Training Center Foundation Representatives, DDSC’s representatives and scholarship office for the success of the event.

LFI hopes that this project will contribute to the upliftment and improved well-being of our coconut farming communities.

A Kumustahan Session for Parents was held on March 22, 2026 with the topic “Dealing with Failure with Humility.” Being a parent is a fulfilling yet challenging endeavor. Numerous challenges arise along the way in raising one's child/ren. In today’s increasingly demanding world, parents often struggle to meet both ends of their financial obligations while fulfilling their parental obligations. Therefore, this session is particularly relevant for them to recognize that the challenges they face and the mistakes they make, which they perceive as failures or shortcomings as parents, are integral to their development of resilience.

During the session, parents shared their experiences in managing their own failures and those of their children. Many of them expressed that whenever their children encountered failure, they would provide motivation and encouragement to help their children feel better about their situation. Through these shared experiences, parents gained a renewed understanding that listening and gaining access to their children provide them with the opportunity to talk and demonstrate their care and understanding to their children. This allows their children to identify effective coping mechanisms for dealing with their own failures, whether academic, personal, or social. In conclusion, the parents were enthusiastic about the session and gained a new perspective.

This month’s Kumustahan Session entitled “The Art of Failure: Turning Setbacks into Comebacks” spoke about the mistakes, challenges and difficulties that we experience and how each carries lessons, builds resilience, and gives us a chance to rise stronger.

During the session, the scholars had an opportunity to look back at their failures, acknowledge their feelings, and share those moments with others. The session reminded them that failure is a universal human experience and it’s okay to fail; to learn, to accept and face them — that is where true growth begins. It is through learning to live with failure that allows us to be more open to acknowledge our own strengths and weaknesses and know that we are all capable of achieving and doing more things.

Thank you for the meaningful discussion, Scholars!

The LFI Team had a successful pilot run of its Leadership Camp with the theme “Leveling up the Next Generation Leaders”. The activity was participated by our agri-scholars at Davao del Sur State College last March 21, 2026.

A huge thanks to our DSSC scholars who made this journey of growth and self-discovery truly inspiring and meaningful. Over the course of the Leadership Camp, the LFI team focused on three transformative sessions: (1) Understanding yourself and others (2) Unleashing Your Leadership Potentials (3) Developing Meaningful Connections: A Path Toward Growth. The scholars also took part in various activities and games designed to cultivate their leadership skills and character.

Scholars are very grateful as it's their first time to attend such leadership camp/training. The energy, teamwork, insights, and connections made were wonderful. We hope this leadership camp experience will give the scholars a clear vision of their future roles as leaders and reinforces the value of the lessons they gained throughout the activity.

LFI also extended its appreciation to the DSSC Scholarship team for the support and assistance during the leadership camp.

Padayon, DSSC scholars! 💛

As we celebrate the month of love, the LFI team conducted its February Kumustahan Session entitled “LFI Lovefest: Developing Meaningful Connections” last February 15, 2026. The session was filled with heartfelt activities- it was a time to slow down, rest and reflect with one’s self and others.

The session felt more than an activity- it became a safe space for everyone to share, reflect and build connections that truly mattered. The session became a reminder to everyone that real connection is built through intention– to listen, respect and understand ourselves and others.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and lent their ears and hearts to listen. Let us continue to spread love and kindness and help each other feel seen and heard.

Maraming salamat scholars!

‘HUSAY NG KAMAY KATAMBAL NG LINIS NG PUSO AT ISIPAN’

Last January 30, 2026, members of the Lao Foundation Team attended the first Dualtech Graduation Ceremony for Year 2026. It was a particularly significant event for the team, as scholars from the Del Monte Foundation, one of Lao Foundation’s partners under the 2030 Zero Extreme Poverty Movement, finally achieved the dreams they had worked hard for.

The partnership supported these scholars through their Basic Stage Training Program, until their Advanced Stage Training Program, where they held their in-plant training in D&L Premium Foods, one of the business units under the D&L Industries. The LFI Team witnessed these scholars grow into the mature men that they are now, and the team could not be more proud of the success that they have achieved.

As mentioned by the keynote speaker, Dir. Jovencio M. Ferrer, Jr., Regional Director of TESDA 4A (CALABARZON), success is not merely for financial gain, but more importantly, ensuring that there is always food on the table at home. He further emphasized that, given the many challenges that the youth are facing nowadays, to always strive for excellence, “to be so good at what you do that they cannot deny your excellence.”

We would like to thank the Del Monte Foundation for working hand-in-hand with us in supporting our scholars to their success. LFI looks forward to more opportunities with you.

Congratulations as well to the Dualtech Training Center Foundation for another successful batch of scholars.

Lastly, congratulations to our scholars for persevering and continuing to strive for their dreams. May you all continue to live out the values of Virtue and Work, and Integrity, Humility, and Service."

This month’s Kumustahan Session entitled “Understanding the Importance of Integrity in Life Planning and Goal Setting” was held last January 29, 2026. The team also welcomed the new in-plant-trainees (IPTs) who joined this year.

The session started with an activity about “knowing where you are” and invited each trainee to reflect and relate their life through the “Makers Map” by Brad Montague. The activity helped them in embracing their current position, looking within, not outside, and understanding their “whys”. It was followed by a deeper reflection as they evaluated the key areas of their life: Physical, Family, Emotional, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual, and Financial.

The LFI team also emphasized the importance of integrity which guides their every decision and action as they plan and make goals for their life.

Thank you, IPTs, for a rich sharing and active participation during our session. May you continue to persevere and be able to go to your dream destination not just in the Makers Map but in life!

See you next session!
