โ€œThe tours are curated by Weaving Ecosystems, the team behind Binhi sa Rurungan community markets, whose years of working with small producers, growers, and artisans inform the programโ€™s community-first approach. Drawing from relationships already rooted in care, cooperation, and sustainability, they go beyond itinerary-building to act as connectorsโ€”bringing together local practitioners and ensuring that each stop reflects real, ongoing community life rather than staged encounters. Through this approach, Byaheng Puerto Princesa becomes less about consumption and more about relationship-building.โ€

โ€”What happens when we pause, unlearn the rules we inherited, and return to the knowledge we already carry? ๐Ÿ’ญ

This January, Design Kwentuhan invites you to a shared space of stories, making, and remembering, where design is explored not as something to imitate, but something deeply rooted in who we are.

Presented by Five300 Studio () x Weaving Ecosystems (), this grassroots design education initiative is part of the Creative Isla Movement, building Palawan as a model creative island, where culture, design, and community grow from local truth.

Through facilitated โ€œkwentuhanโ€ (not lectures), circular seating, and hands-on creation using leaves, shells, vegetables, and found objects, participants will explore decolonial design through Filipino values of โ€œginhawaโ€โ€”wellbeing, ease, and dignity.

No design background required. Just curiosity, openness, and commitment.

Please register only if youโ€™re 100% sure you can attend as every seat matters.

Usapang design naman tayo!

This is for anyone who creates โ€” be it visual design, experience, concepts, performance, at kung ano pa. No design background or formal training needed!

Join the kwentuhan and hands-on no-pressure designing next Saturday, January 24 at Kusina ni Tito Ernie.

Register now: https://forms.gle/8Lz1MDVEiVagDwiJ7

The kwentuhan continues.

DESIGN KWENTUHAN SESSION 2: Unlearning Design

A session about unlearning the rules we inherited, so we can rediscover the knowledge we already had.

๐Ÿ“… January 24, 2026 โ€ข 1PM
๐Ÿ“ Rurungan Compound, Abanico Rd., San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City

โœจ FREE Admission โ€ข Limited to 30 slots

This isn't just another design workshop. This is kwentuhanโ€”a space to surface what colonial design education taught us to value and what it erased, to name where we are in our creative journey, and to physically embody unlearning through hands-on creation.

We'll explore:
- Challenging colonial design conditioning
- Reclaiming indigenous design knowledge as sophisticated methodology
- Understanding your stage in creative evolution
- Designing with ginhawa (wellbeing, ease, dignity) at the center

You'll leave with a tote bag you designed using natural materialsโ€”and a shifted perspective on what design can be when we center our own knowledge systems.

No design background required. Open for all.

โš ๏ธ Important: Register only if you're 100% committed to attending. Every seat matters. Every empty chair means someone on the waitlist missed this opportunity.

Puerto Princesa is changing fast. Byaheng Puerto Princesa exists to make sure the people who built this city arenโ€™t erased in the process. This map (illustrated by Kieth Pacardo) marks the artists, makers, and community spaces that work to sustain our local community ecosystem. These are the spaces worth remembering, visiting, and supporting.

Get this map as part of the tour kit, featuring a beautiful full-page colored illustration, a list of our recommended spots, and a link to our Google maps.
