Tears, late-night study sessions, and silent prayers stood behind the brightest smile on stage. When the final name was called during the coronation night of Mr. and Ms. JRMSU at the 13th Intercollegiate Students’ Festival 2026 last February 19, few knew the quiet battles Lanie Dalangon Ganot had fought to earn her crown.
The first-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science student was proclaimed Ms. JRMSU 2026, sweeping major special awards including Miss Professionalism, Miss Photogenic, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Production Number, Best Speaker, and Best in Swimwear.
Yet pageantry was never part of her plan, Ganot once dreamed of pursuing Civil or Agricultural Engineering; but due to financial constraints and having two brothers who are still studying, she chose a more practical course. In October 2025, she joined Miss Piñan out of curiosity and financial need, finishing as First Runner-Up. That experience sparked a newfound confidence that later pushed her to join Ms. JRMSU -Dipolog.
Behind the glamour was a demanding routine. She recalled nights when she returned to her boarding house from Q&A rehearsals and pasarela training only to face academic deadlines.
"There were times I cried trying to balance everything,” she admitted. Still, through discipline and faith, she managed to persevere.
Her victory, she emphasized, is not just personal—it is purposeful. As Ms. JRMSU, Ganot hopes to become an inspiring Science teacher and use her platform to encourage students to embrace challenges and believe in their potential.
Beyond academics and pageantry, she is a former artistic gymnast who trained and competed for over a decade. The sport instilled in her strength, confidence, and resilience—qualities that now define her leadership.
Currently serving as Vice President for External Affairs of the General Science Society, Ganot continues to demonstrate commitment both inside and outside the classroom. She credits her family’s unwavering support for helping her overcome self-doubt and difficult moments, including experiences of bullying in her younger years.
Unexpected opportunities followed her win, including invitations to serve as a pageant judge—an experience she never imagined after joining only two competitions. For her, the crown symbolizes more than beauty; it represents growth, courage, and stepping beyond one’s comfort zone.
“There’s nothing wrong with trying,” she advises fellow students. “Believe in yourself, stay determined, and give your best. With faith, everything is possible.”
From reluctant participant to radiant queen, Ganot’s journey proves that sometimes the paths we never intended to take lead us exactly where we are meant to be.
