Planting mangroves isn’t always the solution, especially when it’s done wrong.

This article highlights how poorly planned efforts—like planting the wrong species in the wrong areas—can do more harm than good, even damaging existing ecosystems.

Mangrove restoration must be science-based, site-specific, and community-informed. Because protecting our coasts means doing it right.

Women’s Month may be over, but stories like Agatha’s continue to inspire. 🌱

From digging in mangrove mud to shaping climate finance policies, she shows how curiosity, courage, and immersion in real-world challenges can lead to meaningful impact. As one of Philippine NBCAP’s partners in blue carbon, she works closely with communities and governments to protect coastal ecosystems and support climate action. Her secret? Trusting herself, taking action, and learning from mistakes along the way.

Agatha reminds us that protecting our coasts and communities takes both passion and boldness. 💚
