March 22 is World Water Day.

As the global water crisis intensifies, action is needed more than ever.

Water is fundamental to life, health and economic stability. Yet one in four people still lack access to safely managed water and sanitation, and demand is set to outpace supply by 2030.

For business, water is not only a shared resource—it is a critical risk and opportunity. From operations to supply chains, water resilience is essential to long-term performance and stability.

The UN Global Compact is mobilizing companies to turn ambition into action through the CEO Water Mandate, Water Resilience Coalition and Forward Faster initiative—driving collective efforts to protect water resources and build resilience in water-stressed regions.

What does it take to put responsible business at the centre of ASEAN's sustainability agenda? 🌏

On 9 March 2026, the Global Compact Network Philippines and United Nations Philippines met with ASEAN BAC Philippines to explore collaboration opportunities. The world is experiencing the highest number of violent conflicts since the Second World War. Two billion people — a quarter of humanity — live in places affected by conflict, including one in every five children.

In times of conflict, the private sector can help support humanitarian responses and contribute to stability. Companies may choose to provide financial or in-kind contributions of goods and services, and support public outreach efforts that promote peace.

Today is International Women’s Day.

At a time when women’s rights face ongoing challenges, leadership is needed more than ever.

Gender equality is both a fundamental human right and essential to building sustainable, resilient businesses and economies. When women advance and lead, companies perform better, economies grow stronger and societies benefit as a whole.

The UN Global Compact is mobilizing companies worldwide to turn commitments into measurable action through the Women’s Empowerment Principles and Forward Faster initiative—advancing equal pay, leadership representation and inclusive workplaces.

At the GCNP General Assembly on 3 March 2026, participant organizations reaffirmed their commitment to the Ten Principles and the Global Goals. 🌍

The Network celebrates a growing community of 79 participants: companies, SMEs, business associations, academe, and NGOs — all united in responsible business action. These participants form part of the United Nations Global Compact, joining 25,000+ organizations across 167 countries. GCNP bridges this global movement to local action through accelerator programmes, peer learning sessions, and flagship events like the Sustainability Summit.

United Nations Philippines Resident Coordinator Mr. Arnaud Peral affirmed the private sector's critical role in advancing the SDGs in the country. This year's Assembly carried special weight as the Philippines steps into its role as ASEAN 2026 Chair. DTI Philippines Chief of Staff Mr. Jeremiah Reyes (representing Secretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque) emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in ensuring ASEAN 2026 delivers tangible outcomes for Philippine enterprises. ASEAN BAC Philippines Chair and Go Negosyo Founder Mr. Joey Concepcion echoed this with a compelling call for inclusivity, reminding us that progress must be built on the growth of micro and small entrepreneurs.

The Assembly also marked the election of the 2026 Board of Trustees, who will lead GCNP into its next chapter — carrying forward a renewed commitment to principled, purposeful business action.

The Global Compact Network Philippines (GCNP) and Race to Zero Philippines (RTZ) are convening the ASEAN Climate Action Dialogue on 24 February 2026 at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).

As Southeast Asia accelerates its transition toward low-carbon development, stronger coordination between governments, businesses, investors, and civil society is at the center of this One-Day High-Level Learning & Action Dialogue.

Together with the ECCP - European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and Climate & Clean Air Coalition, this event will bring together regional leaders and climate practitioners from the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam to explore how carbon markets can help bridge fragmented climate efforts and unlock scalable investment for mitigation projects.

The programme will feature three plenary sessions focused on:
1) ASEAN Carbon Markets & Article 6.2 Readiness
2) Agriculture & Food Systems as a Scalable Mitigation Pathway
3) Financing & Interoperability

Together, these discussions aim to strengthen market systems, improve alignment between projects and national climate targets, and accelerate net-zero progress across the ASEAN region.

This forum is invitation-only to ensure a focused, high-level learning and action dialogue.

Stakeholders in the climate, sustainability, or finance ecosystem in Southeast Asia who are interested in participating may apply for review through the event page: https://eccp.glueup.com/event/asean-climate-action-dialogue-171257/

Today, we mark World Day of Social Justice.

Social justice underpins a sustainable and inclusive economy. Through the UN Global Compact, businesses are taking action to advance decent work, reduce inequalities and uphold human rights, including by ensuring workers are paid a living wage.

We’re highlighting how business leadership can help ensure workers everywhere earn enough to live with dignity. Missed our recent session on living wages and social justice? Watch it here: https://academy.unglobalcompact.org/course/7031695

🌊 Last month, Ocean Centres Philippines welcomed over 70 stakeholders at the HULI: Philippine Fishers' Forum on Strengthening Safety, Livelihoods, and Ocean Stewardship

The Fishers’ Forum brought together small-scale fishers, community leaders, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society to surface lived experiences, strengthen practical knowledge, and inform more responsive, locally grounded coastal development.

Through multi-stakeholder exchanges, discussions examined fishers’ priorities and on-the-ground challenges to strengthen ocean literacy and fisheries stewardship rooted in local realities.

Key thematic workstreams explored:
🐟 Sustainable fisheries & ocean literacy
🎣 Livelihoods, inclusion & support systems
🛳️ Safety at sea & risk reduction

Held at the Agricultural Training Institute in Occidental Mindoro, in partnership with Fast Cat, the Department of Agriculture, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Forum underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in translating local insights into safer, more resilient coastal communities.
