The Story of SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of PASIG in the CSO ACADEMY, Sept 2025 - March 2026

As an accredited Civil Society Organization (CSO) by the Pasig City government, SI Pasig, through the initiative of member Ardie Dawal, together with charter president Susan Jhocson Macion, as endorsed by President Nikki de Vega, applied to the CSO Academy. The program ran from Sept 2025 to March 2026, with concluding rites to happen later this month.

The primary objective of the Pasig City CSO Academy (PCCA) is to "empower community leaders and CSOs through specialized training to foster effective, participatory local governance. It serves as a capacity-building platform designed to strengthen the partnership between the local government and civil society."

Susan and Ardie, CSO fellows in 2 different sections of CSO 101, went through 4 Sundays of lecture training at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. After this, fellows developed and launched Project Prototype Ex*****on (PPEs). These are community-based initiatives aimed at solving local issues on economic, social/developmental or environmental.

Susan's group was assigned to tackle economic issues, for which the group focused on the financial needs of solo parents in Barangay Maybunga. For Ardie, their group focused on the development needs of the youth in responsible decision-making.

The experience and exposure in the past 6 months have been enriching and has helped increase the network of SI Pasig. In fact, SI Pasig's LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD (LYDA) club and district winner, Jessa Cristobal, was also a fellow in the academy. It was through the academy and through Jessa, that she and other women learned about LYDA.

Thank you to Pasig City CSO Academy for this opportunity!

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of Certificates of Recognition to deserving EPD female personnel in acknowledgment of their outstanding accomplishments. Plaques of Appreciation were also awarded to civilian partners and stakeholders for their invaluable support to the programs and activities of the Eastern Police District.

The celebration also featured an intermission number performed by the EPD Babaylan Dancers, adding cultural significance and vibrancy to the event.

The observance of Women’s Month serves as a vital reminder of the significant contributions of women in society, while promoting gender equality, empowerment, and the continued recognition of women’s roles in nation-building and community development.
