SKAL International Makati SKAL INTERNATIONAL MAKATI
EST. AUGUST 1981 Pierre Soulie, and Georges Ithier came together on December 16, 1932 to establish the SKAL Club in Paris.

SKAL International began in 1932 with the founding of the first Club of Paris, by the friendship arising between a group of Parisian Travel Agents who were invited by several transport companies to the presentation of a new aircraft destined for the Amsterdam-Copenhagen-Maleno route. Inspired by their enriching experiences and the strong international friendship that formed during their travels, a

group of professionals led by Jules Mohr, Florimond Volckaert, Hugo Krafft. The first SKAL Club was officially founded in Paris on December 20, 1932 in the Ambassadeur and on December 27 in the Astra. The idea of international friendship between tourism professionals grew and by early 1934 there were already 12 clubs formed in 5 countries. It was then that the idea arose to create a partnership that brings together all the clubs with the aim of fostering goodwill and friendship in the travel and transport sectors around the world. The ‘Association Internationale des Skål Clubs’ (AISC) was established on April 28th 1934 at the Hotel Scribe in Paris, in a General Assembly composed of 21 delegates, representatives of 11 clubs, plus two observers from London. The SKAL International Makati, also known as the SKAL Club of Makati, is a member of the AISC. In the Philippines, SKAL was introduced in 1953 with the founding of SKAL Club of the Philippines which later became the SKAL Club of Manila. The birth of SKAL Club of Makati followed on August 28, 1981 with Mr. Ofri Canlas of the Manila Peninsula as the Founding President. SKAL means: S for sundhet or health, K for karlek or love, A for alder or long life, and L for lycka or happiness.

On November 20, 2025, the 5th Fellowship and Membership Meeting of Skål International Makati took place at The Wine Museum located at Aurora Blvd Pasay City, Metro Manila.

This event provided a successful opportunity for attendees to reconnect and foster deeper relationships. Last September 25, 2025 the 4th Fellowship and Membership Meeting of Skål International Makati took place at Lakbay Museo located at Ayala Malls Manila bay with the motivational theme: “Skål Lauds Investment Tourism.”

With the Special Message of Mr. Lance Tan, the President and CEO of Lakbay Museo. The event showcased the beauty of one of the most culturally immersive museums in the Philippines. The speaker shared inspiring stories behind the development of iconic infrastructure in the country, highlighting how our culture as Filipinos are built not just to attract tourists, but to foster national pride, cultural awareness, and sustainable investment in tourism.

Last June 5, 2025 the 3rd Fellowship and Membership Meeting of Skål International Makati took place at the Hilton Manila Hotel with the inspiring theme: “Skål Embraces Health Tourism.”

With our Guest Speaker, Dr. Dennis Sta. Ana, MD, the event highlighted the future of health tourism and its growing impact on the hospitality industry—a timely and vital topic for our community.

We were also proud to officially welcome Mr. Eddie Nuque as a newly inducted Skål member. He is a public sector consultant for tourism.

On March 27, 2025, SKÅL INTERNATIONAL MAKATI's 2nd Fellowship and Membership Meeting commenced at The Collab Sheraton with the theme “Philippines at Expo 2025, A Global Spotlight on Tourism and Innovation.”

As the program progressed, Ms. Margarita Nograles, the Chief Operating Officer of Tourism Promotions Board proudly presented… emphasizing the remarkable initiatives in the global tourism landscape of the Philippines.

That same evening, we graciously inducted our newest SKÅL member, Mr. Nilo Rodriguez, President and CEO of Newport World Resorts.

Followed by the induction of our Young SKÅL members, Ms. Samantha Abrigo, Ms. Trisha Nicole Vasquez, and Ms. Yzabella Diamante from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management in Manila Tytana Colleges.

Furthermore, we extend a heartfelt gratitude to Ralph’s Wines & Spirits for their generous sponsorship, which elevated the experience of each attendees with their exquisite wines.

Highlights from SKÅL INTERNATIONAL MAKATI's 1st Fellowship and Membership Meeting with the theme "A Celebration of Friendship and Gratitude" which took place on the 27th of February at The Heritage Hotel in Pasay, Metro Manila.

Our guest speaker was, Ms. Sharleen Dee Sy, CEO, CTO, Co-Founder of HALO HALO Corp., captivated us with her vision of promoting Filipino tourism through digital arts on a global scale. Their innovative app merges cutting-edge technology with compelling narratives, redefining mobile entertainment and enriching experiences.

We proudly inducted our new members, Ms. Carmela Geisert, President of Asia Grand View Hotels Inc., and Ms. Doris Lopez, President of Networld Hotel.

A magical sparking evening at the 5th Fellowship and Membership Meeting/Annual Christmas Party with SKAL International Makati!

Last December 6, 2024, we celebrated "Christmas Sparkles with SKAL" at the stunning Chairman's Lounge in Okada Manila, known for its biggest integrated resort casino in the Philippines.

The festive spirit was alive as we gathered for an evening filled with joy, excitement, and connections. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and to our co-sponsor, Ralph's Wines & Spirits, for adding a special touch to the celebration! 🍷🎁

SKAL MAKATI proudly honors SKAL Board member Ms. Cynthia Carrion for her significant contributions to Philippine gymnastics, particularly in supporting Carlos Yulo, which led to two gold medals at the recent Paris Olympics. Cheers again for Ms. Cynthia Carrion! 🥂
