PNP SEIZES OVER ₱16-M WORTH OF SUSPECTED SHABU IN NATIONWIDE ANTI-DRUG OPS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confiscated more than ₱16 million worth of suspected shabu in a series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Pampanga, Cebu, Iloilo, Rizal, and Catanduanes from May 11 to early May 12, 2026.

Among the major accomplishments was the interception of an abandoned inbound parcel containing around 974 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱6.6 million at the UPS Cargo Area inside the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga on May 11. The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the PNP Aviation Security Group, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Customs, National Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement units.

In Mandaue City, Cebu, a buy-bust operation conducted on May 11 led to the arrest of a Filipino high-value individual and the confiscation of approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱3.4 million.

Another operation in Estancia, Iloilo before midnight on the same day resulted in the arrest of another identified HVI and the recovery of about 254 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱1.7 million.

Meanwhile, operatives in Taytay, Rizal arrested another suspect during a buy-bust operation on May 12, where authorities seized approximately 180 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱1.2 million.

In Catanduanes, joint anti-drug operatives also arrested two identified HVIs during an operation in Virac on May 11 and confiscated about 500 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱3.4 million.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for the successful operations and emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation among agencies and communities.

He also reminded all police units to remain professional and community-oriented in carrying out police operations.

We will continue to enforce the law fairly and responsibly while ensuring that our actions remain within the bounds of the law,” he added.

The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were turned over to the proper authorities for documentation and legal disposition.

The PNP reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intensified anti-illegal drug operations nationwide as part of the continuing campaign for safer communities under Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

“This act of kindness reflects the true heart of public service.

Dagdag pa ni PGEN Nartatez, “Our police officers continue to show that compassion and service go hand in hand.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through its Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K9 units, successfully conducted a series of operations involving the recovery, render safe procedure, and disposal of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and other explosive materials in Rizal and Tarlac on May 8, 2026.

In Antipolo City, personnel of the PNP-EOD/K9 Regional Explosives and Canine Unit 4A–PECU Rizal responded to a report from a concerned citizen regarding suspected ordnance discovered in the Mt. Purro area in Brgy. Calawis. Upon verification and technical assessment, the team safely recovered several old explosive items, including mortar and grenade-type ordnance believed to be remnants from past conflicts. The recovered items were immediately secured and transported to the unit’s magazine depot for proper disposition.

On the same day, another render safe procedure was conducted in San Mateo, Rizal after a metallic object was discovered during a routine ground sweep in a timberland area. Responding EOD personnel identified the item as a 4.2-inch high explosive mortar and successfully carried out safety procedures to prevent possible danger to nearby communities.

Meanwhile in Capas, Tarlac, personnel of RECU3 Headquarters conducted a controlled disposal operation of recovered and surrendered UXOs, explosive remnants of war, corroded ammunition, improvised explosive device components, and other hazardous explosive materials at the Crow Valley Gunnery Range. The operation was completed safely following strict safety and operational protocols.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units and emphasized the importance of public vigilance and immediate reporting of suspicious explosive materials.

He added that the PNP remains committed to ensuring public safety through professional and timely response operations. “Our EOD units continuously work to keep communities safe from potential threats posed by unexploded ordnance and other hazardous materials. These operations reflect our continuing commitment to protect lives and maintain public safety,” he added.

The accomplishment forms part of the continuing implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, aligned with the peace and order thrusts of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The PNP likewise reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
