Have you ever been in a season where all you needed was for someone to ask, “How are you?”
Sometimes, we forget that the people around us may be carrying things they never talk about. Some of our brethren who once worshipped with us in church may have quietly stepped away, not because they no longer care about God, but because they may be tired, hurt, discouraged, or simply struggling. And sometimes, what they need most is not judgment, but someone who genuinely cares enough to reach out.
Stop asking the whys, and start asking the hows.
How can I encourage them?
How can I help them draw closer to God again?
How can I lift them up?
How can I remind them that they are still loved and welcomed?
Sometimes, a simple “How are you?” can open a door. A sincere prayer can bring comfort. A kind message can remind someone that they haven't been forgotten. Even a simple smile can make someone feel welcomed. Choose to be the person who reaches out instead of the person who looks away.
Be the encouragement someone quietly needs.
Be the grace they didn't expect.
Be the gentle reminder that they are not forgotten, and that God's love still reaches them—even in their hardest and most broken seasons.
Who knows? Your simple “How are you?” might be the very encouragement someone has been quietly needing.
