Building Resilient SMEs Amid Rising Costs and Supply Pressures

Our Energy & Power Committee brought together key voices who shared practical strategies for strengthening small and medium enterprises in today’s challenging environment. Ms. Ma. Crisma Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer of Quanby Solutions, Inc., emphasized that the SMEs poised to thrive in 2026 are not necessarily the largest, but those agile enough to adapt quickly to shifting market conditions. Ms. Edna D. Dizon, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 3, presented DTI’s initiatives to assist SMEs, underscoring the agency’s commitment to “Enabling Business, Empowering Consumers.” She also highlighted the agency’s initiatives in sustaining and protecting business operations amidst the energy crisis, offering programs and partnerships to help enterprises remain competitive and resilient. Meanwhile, Ms. Hershey T. Dela Cruz, Chief of the Energy Cooperation and Coordination Division at the Department of Energy, discussed the Energy Efficiency Act, stressing how SMEs can benefit from efficiency measures, the transition to EVs, and the adoption of solar solutions. She encouraged participants to “Make energy efficiency a daily habit. Small actions, when done consistently, can lead to big savings.”

These insights provided participants with actionable strategies to reinforce continuity, optimize resources, and embrace innovation, ensuring SMEs remain resilient amid economic
pressures and evolving market demands.

Dillera, at the General Membership Luncheon Meeting held on May 5 at Clark Marriott Hotel. At the intersection of demand and readiness, TESDA bridges the gap with programs designed to deliver skills at the pace of change. Their mission is clear, to ensure the workforce is not only prepared but positioned to thrive in industries that reinvent themselves daily.

North Luzon Chapter also proudly welcomed its newest members, Lockheed Martin Global Inc. and RJC Corporate Security Services Inc., further strengthening the network of partners committed to advancing industries and opportunities in the region.

We had the privilege of inviting Ms. Barbara Kitane, CEO and Founder of Ampersand, as guest speaker for our joint Sustainability and Tourism committee meeting on Sustainable Tourism last April 14. She highlighted in her presentation that the real challenge is not demand but system performance. Although many stakeholders are active, the efforts remain fragmented. She underscored that the way forward is not to start anew or draft additional plans, but to link existing efforts and ensure the system operates seamlessly as one.

For members, the session reinforced the value of participation, being part of the dialogue means contributing to the orchestration that can transform scattered actions into a cohesive, sustainable tourism framework.
