OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE LEYTE PROVINCIAL FEDERATION OF PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (PTA) CONDEMNING THE SERIES OF SHOOTING INCIDENTS INVOLVING TEACHERS IN THE SCHOOLS OF LEYTE DIVISION.

The Leyte Provincial Federation of Parents-Teachers Association (LPFPTA) strongly condemns the tragic and heartbreaking shooting incidents that occurred in the Municipalities of Tanauan and Matalom, Leyte, involving teachers who lost their lives at the hands of their own spouses.

We are deeply saddened by these acts of violence that claimed the lives of dedicated educators who have devoted their time, talent, and compassion to shaping the minds and hearts of our children. Schools are meant to be sanctuaries of learning and safety, not places of fear and mourning. These tragedies are a painful reminder of the urgent need to strengthen protection for our teachers and address domestic violence within our communities.

The Leyte Provincial Federation of PTA stands in solidarity with the bereaved families, the Department of Education – Division of Leyte, and the entire teaching community during this time of profound grief. We extend our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and join in prayer for justice, peace, and healing.

We urge the Philippine National Police, Department of Education, Local Government Units, and community leaders to enhance safety protocols within school premises and to implement stronger mental health and family support programs for teachers and staff.

Let these tragic events in Barangay Canramos, Tanauan and Barangay Agbanga, Matalom, Leyte serve as a solemn call for unity, compassion, and decisive action against domestic violence. No teacher should ever fear for their life while fulfilling their noble calling to educate.

Violence—whether in homes or in schools—has no place in our society. Together, let us build communities where peace, respect, and care for one another prevail.
