Who are We? ... we are a non-stock, non-profit, non sectarian volunteer organization of individuals bounded by a common desire of uplifting the quality of lives of children by mobilizing community to work together towards the total development of children.. We started to organize and operate in 1992 as a mere city chapter of Pagkakaisa Volunteers Inc. (PVI) a manila based chapter or

ganization whose main thrust is a provision of 10-day camp. On 1995, we decided to establish an independent organization and pursue our own vision and mission thus it was formally registered withe Security and Exchange Commission as Ang Bata at Kalinga, Volunteers for Children's Welfare, Inc (ABaKa-VCWI)

We believe in every man's desire to be good and to be a part of something great

We believe in the value of shared responsibilities

We believe that by putting our lives and resources together we can make a difference

Our Vision and Mission

We dream...
..of a society where every child is embraced and lead to their optimum development regardless of their creed, nationalities, abilities and disabilities

The People Behind the Organization

Our organization is ran by service-oriented individuals who works entirely for free. Volunteer-counselors, officers and staff member unselfishly commits their time, skills, expertise and even their own resources to keep the organization going, none of which is ever being paid a single centavo for the efforts they exert. Volunteers came from all walks of life and joins the organization with a commitment to undertake whatever is required to fulfill a certain project. thus teachers could become kitchen staff during the camp, engineers acts as a support staff, professionals becomes volunteer-janitor while young students were trusted to act as senior counselors. The Board of Directors and Founding Members came from the pool of the volunteer-counselors who actually works hand in hand with volunteers in the project implementation. In so far as ABaKa-VCWI is concerned, everyone is equally important. JUDEA P. ASUNCION, the founder/President works with the Department of Justice, Parole and Probation Administration. She conceptualized and spearheaded the establishment of the organization through the support of friends from Manila and Olongapo City who like her, are firm believers in the goodness of men and shares her vision of a better quality of life for children. Sources of Funds

ABaKa-VCWI has no single benefactor, while it maintains an account at BPI. Funds are sourced out through solicitation and fund raising campaigns such as garage sale, raffle tickets, sponsorship as well as the resources coming from the volunteers themselves. Office Address and Contact Persons

The organization has no permanent office address to date. Financial constraints and the fact that all its officers have a work of their own prevent us from keeping one. Thus, offices and residence as well as the phone numbers of its board of directors and other officers are utilized as contact points. Venue for meeting, training and other activities are usually provided by other organization and private individuals or done in public places like park, beaches and even at school campuses. Sa bawat pagod at puyat na inyong inalay,
may ngiting nabuo, may mundong gumaan.
Hindi man laging nakikita ang hirap,
ramdam sa bawat sandali ang inyong malasakit.

Maraming salamat sa pusong hindi nagkulang,
sa oras na buong-buo ninyong ibinigay.
Ipinagmamalaki namin kayo—
higit pa sa nagawa ninyo, kundi sa kung sino kayo para sa iba.

To God be the glory!

Service is action.

Day 6 of Kamp Kalinga.

A day where care becomes action—
in preparing, assisting, and simply stepping in when needed.

From grooming moments that build comfort and confidence,
to laughter in the rain shared by everyone—
service moves through every part of the day.

For 35 years, this has been how Kamp Kalinga works—

people responding, helping, and making space for others.

Because service here is not just a role—
it’s how we move forward together.

This is what has sustained Kamp Kalinga all these years—love, given freely and lived fully.

Day 5 of Kamp Kalinga—Pasko sa Kamp.

A day filled with laughter, shared meals, and moments that feel light—

but behind it all is something deeper.

Love, lived in real ways.

In the time volunteers choose to give,
leaving their homes for a week to be here.

In the generosity of those who support from afar,
making space for moments that others can carry with them.

In the connections formed,
where differences fade and people simply come together.

For 35 years, this has been what sustains Kamp Kalinga—

not just what we do, but how we choose to care.

Not everything needs to be explained…
sometimes, it just needs to be understood.

Day 3 of Kamp Kalinga—
a day where stories are shared not through words, but through moments.

Different backgrounds, different expressions,
yet somehow, everything finds its place.

Through dancing, fun games, and shared experiences,
we begin to see each other a little more clearly.

For 35 years, this has been part of the journey—
learning to listen, to observe, and to stay open.

Because understanding doesn’t happen all at once—
it grows, quietly, in moments like these.

It looks like a simple day—
but it’s never left to chance.

Day 2 of Kamp Kalinga—
a day filled with movement, laughter, and shared moments.

But behind every activity is something quieter.
A constant presence.

People paying attention, guiding, and looking out for one another.

From the energy of the pool
to the stillness of a film night back at camp,
responsibility carries through.

For 35 years, this has been part of what we do—
not always seen, but always there.

Follow the journey.
