𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | Pahilanga NHS Celebrates High School Day with Unity, Fun, and Royalty

Pahilanga National High School marked its annual High School Day on March 21, 2026. Students, teachers, parents, and community members joined in a full day of events that promoted unity and joy.

The festivities kicked off with a lively parade featuring the Muses and Escorts marching alongside eager PNHS learners, their colorful attire and cheerful chants setting an electric mood. School Head Meljorie C. Muyco, PhD, took the stage for her opening remarks, her words resonating deeply: "Parents and teachers must work hand in hand for the betterment of our learners—they are true partners in shaping their future." Her call for collaboration struck a chord, reminding everyone of the shared village it takes to raise a child.

Spotlight soon shifted to the presentation of Muses and Escorts, where participants shone with poise and personality. The morning peaked with "Laro ng Lahi," traditional Filipino games led by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers. From sack races to traditional games, learners, educators, and the school community dove in with unbridled joy—sweaty faces beaming, cheers filling the air as old-school fun bridged generations.

Come 1 p.m., the afternoon buzzed with anticipation for the Coronation Ceremony. In a moment of pride, Charles Andrew Acebedo was crowned PNHS King 2026, while Kristine Esquivel claimed the title of PNHS Queen 2026. Draped in sashes and garlands, the royals waved to thunderous applause, embodying the spirit of youth and aspiration.

As dusk fell, the PTA officers stole the show with the "Search for Supermom," honoring everyday heroes who juggle family, work, and school support with grace. The night capped off with the PNHS Variety Show, a whirlwind of talents—from dances to song numbers—that left the crowd roaring and hearts full.

High School Day at PNHS wasn't just an event; it was a tapestry of community bonds, proving once again that together, they thrive.

𝐒𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓: Pahilanga NHS Grade 12 Cookery Learners Pass NC II Assessment

Pahilanga National High School Grade 12 Cookery students achieved a 100% passing rate in the National Competency Assessment for Cookery NC II. The event took place on March 4, 2026, at GGG Skill Training Center, Inc., in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental. Ma’am Rosel Mahilum led the group to success.

TESDA-accredited evaluators tested skills in food preparation, kitchen safety, and sanitation. Students excelled through hands-on demonstrations. School officials hailed the milestone as proof of strong TVL training.

The certification boosts job prospects and entrepreneurship for graduates. Pahilanga NHS reaffirms its vocational education focus. Ma’am Mahilum, together with the school community, praised the students' hard work and teamwork.

Pahilanga National High School's campus journalists earned top honors at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026, held January 30 at Pontevedra National High School. Seventeen student writers, guided by advisers Ma'am Ronette Moleño, Jian Rocyll Gallano, and Sir Christian Soliguen, competed against journalists from across the entire Division of Negros Occidental.

Rechellyn L. Memeje, a Regional Qualifier, secured 3rd place in Editorial Writing in Filipino for her incisive commentary. Sheenly Gamala claimed 5th place in Sports Writing in Filipino through dynamic storytelling. These podium finishes highlight Pahilanga NHS's excellence in DepEd-aligned journalistic training.

Melody Tan was elected treasurer of the Negros Occidental Editor's Guild, marking a significant leadership achievement. Her role positions Pahilanga to influence division-wide student media initiatives and advocacy.

Pahilanga NHS' DSPC achievements exemplify DepEd Order No. 48, s. 2009 on campus journalism, fostering critical analysis and ethical communication. These successes position the school as a vanguard in cultivating future media leaders for Negros Occidental.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐎 𝐏𝐀, 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐎 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐎 𝐍𝐀: Pahilanga NHS Ignites Grade 10 Career Dreams in Grand Culminating Showcase

Pahilanga National High School conducted its Career Guidance Program Culminating Activity on January 29, 2026, the program aligned with Department of Education (DepEd) mandates for holistic learner development, focusing on vocational awareness among Grade 10 students.

The sequence commenced with the entrance of Grade 10 students accompanied by their advisers, succeeded by the entrance of senior scouts. Grade 10 participants presented in career-themed costumes, exemplifying professional aspirations through visual representation.

Opening remarks were delivered by School Head Meljorie C. Muyco, PhD. The statement of purpose followed, presented by Ma'am Jean Pulmones. Selected Grade 10 learners exhibited their program outputs, demonstrating acquired competencies in career planning.

Ma'am Sheila Ortillo introduced the resource speaker, Ma'am Charites P. Jagonob, who articulated the keynote: “Malayo pa pero malayo na.” Subsequently, Grade 10 learners performed the career guidance song “We Can Be Anything” by Apl.de.ap.

The activity concluded with closing remarks by Ma'am Sherlyn Jagonos, reaffirming institutional commitment to student career readiness.
