The Bicol Regionโs electrical industry reached a dynamic milestone as the 13th Bicol Electrician Summit (BES) successfully took place on May 31, 2026, at the ALDP Monte Vista in Naga City, Camarines Sur. Driven by the powerful theme, "Empowering Electricians. Energizing Communities. Building a Safer Future," this year's summit brought together professionals, industry leaders, and technical experts for a full day of knowledge-sharing and community building.
This significant event was organized by the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE) - Camarines Chapter. Leading the charge as the BES Chairman was Engr. Alvin Antony Dy Prieto (IIEE Camarines Vice President for Technical Affairs), working under the visionary leadership of IIEE Camarines President Casimiro L. Flores, Jr. and IIEE Region V Governor Engr. Fernan Dematera.
Following the opening ceremonies, IIEE National President Robert Mabulay set an ambitious tone for the day with their opening remarks and inspirational messages. BES Chairman Engr. Dy Prieto then officially presented the distinguished resource speakers to the attendees (image.png). The morning technical sessions kicked off with critical industry topics, starting with a comprehensive lecture on Electrical Safety delivered by IIEE Camarines President Flores.
A major highlight of the morning was a special inspirational message from Hon. Maria Leonor G. Robredo, which preceded the final morning session on Solar Power presented by Engr. Noel Gabane. The momentum continued right up to the midday break and extended well into the afternoon with heavy emphasis on infrastructure, distribution, and strict safety compliance. Engr. Joseph Cipriano opened this segment with a detailed discussion on Transmission, followed by a networking lunch for all the participants.
The afternoon sessions resumed with Engr. Julius Banaga tackling Distribution, which led into a brief interlude for the day's first exciting raffle draw. Technical deep-dives then continued with Engr. Roderick Rodriguez presenting on Transformer Banking, and Engr. Arnold Reonal discussing Grounding and Bonding, including proper arrester installation. The final technical block focused heavily on regulatory compliance, with Engr. Gregory Moreno providing vital updates on the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC). The energy levels remained high until the very end with a second raffle draw, giving lucky attendees another chance to take home exciting prizes.
The event officially concluded with closing remarks from VPI Engr. Julius Caesar D. Del Valle, followed by a massive solidarity photo session to celebrate the community's shared vision. By bridging the gap between national regulatory standards and local grassroots electricians, the organizers have once again proven that building a safer, more energized future starts with empowering the hands that build it.
