Kadaiyahan SEAtizen Science Program 2026 launched its field bootcamp on March 5โ7, 2026, bringing together 24 SEAtizen Scientists from across the Davao Region for hands-on learning and data collection on coastal issues.
During the three-day activity, participants moved from classroom sessions to field engagement, working with the Sama-Badjao community in Bucana, Davao City. SEAtizen Scientists examined key concerns affecting coastal areas, including waste management, mangrove loss, and water quality, while learning directly from the experiences of the community.
The bootcamp allowed participants to apply basic citizen science methods: observing, documenting, and engaging with local residents, to better understand environmental conditions and their impacts on daily life. The said activity is an important step in building youth involvement in science and community-based solutions.
The program continues to promote Sea, Science, Service, and Stories, encouraging young leaders to take part in protecting marine ecosystems through informed action.
