(TDLP) is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and developing adaptive tennis programs for individuals with down syndrome and special needs. We are a group of tennis enthusiast, headed by Coach Nonoy Silvosa, who love working with people with special needs. We are committed to raising awareness and develop adaptive tennis programs throughout the Philippines. Opportun
ities like adaptive tennis training and sports events for kids with special needs are scarce in the Philippines. Special leagues are not available, free training are hard to locate, and there is no tournament available for them. Because of these, we unite to provide free adaptive tennis training to individuals with down syndrome and special needs. Providing tennis training for athletes with intellectual disabilities does more than provide wellness and socialization for the athletes. The parents recognize the importance of the social network formed with other families living with the same hopes, dreams and challenges. The parents found both support and guidance among new friends. With the desire and will to continue this important cause,TDLP began to form in 2014. We exist to provide continuing tennis training for our athletes. The program focuses on improving the motor skill, coordination and balance -- challenges for so many persons with down syndrome and special needs. Our tennis programs open a gateway for our athletes to achieve empowerment and acceptance. We believe in the transformative power of tennis to instill confidence, joy, improve health and inspire a sense of achievement to all regardless of ability and experience. We also bring together communities to see and take part in this advocacy.
