"Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan!" ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Today isnโ€™t just a date we remember from history books. June 12, 1898 is the day our ancestors chose courage over fear, and freedom over chains.

This day belongs to all of us. Every Filipino, wherever you are and whatever your story is โ€” this freedom is yours too.

Kalayaan means we all get a chance to write our own story. It means we can speak, choose, dream, and build without permission from anyone else. But freedom also comes with responsibility โ€” to protect it, to grow it, and to pass it on better than we found it.

So today, letโ€™s celebrate loud. Wave the flag. Sing Lupang Hinirang with your whole chest. Hug your family a little tighter. Remember the heroes who gave us this life we have now.

And tomorrow? Letโ€™s keep choosing unity over division.
Because a truly free Philippines is built by free, brave, and kind Filipinos.

Last May 29, 2026, Pateros Technological College came alive with color, music, and tradition as the Center for Culture and the Arts successfully held its first-ever Flores de Mayo.

A total of 130 participants took part in the procession, beginning at the PTC grounds and Sto. Rosario-Kanluran Covered Court and making its way around the Municipality of Pateros. Led by the PTC Drum and Lyre Corps and Pateros National High School Drum and Lyre, the parade brought a vibrant atmosphere to the streets as students, faculty, and organizations proudly showcased their participation in this cherished Filipino tradition.

More than just a procession, the event became a reflection of unity within the PTC community. From classmates cheering on participants to faculty and volunteers guiding the flow of the activity, every small act of support contributed to the overall success of the celebration.

Spearheaded by the Center for Culture and the Arts under Prof. Aida B. Cruz, the initiative highlighted the importance of keeping traditions alive among the students. With the support of the administration led by Dr. Analiza F. Arcega, PTC College President, the activity stood as a testament to the collegeโ€™s commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.

As PTC marks this milestone, the Flores de Mayo serves as a reminder that traditions continue to thrive when celebrated together, rooted in heritage, strengthened by unity, and carried forward by the next generation.
