Silong at Sigla: A Step Towards a Vibrant Environment
The Earth is officially in its healing era! On March 29, 2026, at 4:00 PM, the Rotaract Club of Greater Marikina Valley took over Vista Valley, Marikina Valley, for our tree planting project, "Silong at Sigla: Isang Hakbang Patungo sa Masiglang Kapaligiran." This wasn't just about "touching grass" for the aesthetic; it was about taking up space for sustainability and giving Mother Nature the glow-up she truly deserves. Together with the Youth Chair, Doc. Charles Miguel Talaue, planting these seedlings, we are literally rooting for a future where the next generation can enjoy the shade and vitality of a greener community.
The energy was unmatched as we worked through the afternoon heat, but we weren't doing it alone. We were joined by our mentors from the Rotary Club of Greater Marikina Valley, who were on the ground to assist and guide us throughout the activity. With PP Leopoldo Cabuang and RTN Esther Cabuang and GP Francel Abrenica. Their support served as the ultimate "green flag," showing that when the Rotary and Rotaract families collab, the impact is always elite. It was a masterclass in teamwork, with everyone from the "big brothers and sisters" of Rotary to our motivated Rotaractors ensuring every seedling was set up for success.
As the sun began to set over Vista Valley, we walked away knowing we’ve left a legacy that goes beyond a social media post. We are lowkey saving the world one tree at a time, moving away from "burnout culture" and toward a culture of care and preservation. This project is just the beginning of our sustainability era—no cap, just sap. We’re staying grounded, staying committed, and making sure that the environment remains "the moment" for years to come.
