𝗣𝗟𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | As part of the Marikina City's disaster preparedness efforts, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina participated in the Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, today, October 20, 2025.

Said activity was spearheaded by the Central Student University (CSG), alongside PLMar Emergency Response Team (ERT), Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and various student organizations. Together, they guided students, faculty, and admins toward designated safe zone areas, ensuring an orderly and smooth evacuation process.

During the drill, participants practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique – ducking under sturdy tables, covering their heads and necks, and holding to stable objects, protecting themselves during tremors. The Emergency Response Team alongside various organizations also showcased their preparedness and quick response, emphasizing the university's commitment to safety and disaster preparedness.

In line with the Citywide Earthquake Drill, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina will be implementing its official 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧
to ensure the safety and preparedness of everyone inside the campus.

All faculty, students, admins, and staffs are advised to follow the designated evacuation routes and assigned areas as indicated in the map. Let us take this drill seriously and work together in promoting a culture of readiness and safety within our university.

The 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚 (𝐏𝐋𝐌𝐚𝐫) will conduct a 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 on 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝟏𝟎:𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐌. This activity aims to strengthen preparedness and promote safety awareness within the university community.

For this drill, 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐬 are required to participate. Their participation will serve as a vital step in ensuring that proper safety protocols are effectively relayed and practiced within their respective classes.

The University encourages everyone to continue staying informed and proactive in promoting disaster readiness and resilience.

𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 📑

Various student organizations of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina gathered today for a meeting and planning session on earthquake preparedness. One of the key agendas discussed was the conduct of an ocular inspection inside and outside the campus to identify potential evacuation areas in case of emergencies.

Present in the meeting were representatives from: Central Student Government (CSG), PLMar Emergency Response Team (ERT), PLMar Red Cross Youth, BAESICS, HOREMS, EDUCADA, PARACS, CON-NSC, and Hayag Publications

Before the main discussion, Mr. Hernan Adriano, Shift Supervisor of Marikina Rescue 161, gave an informative talk on Disaster Management, Family Disaster Plan, and precautionary measures during earthquakes. The session was also graced by Mr. Dave C. David, DBA, MCDRM, Chief of Marikina Rescue 161, who shared valuable insights and advice aligned with the team’s objectives. Adding inspiration to the agenda, Nurse W***y Sarmiento, Adviser of PLMar ERT shared encouraging words and advice to the student leader volunteers, emphasizing the importance of leadership, compassion, and preparedness in times of disaster.

This initiative highlights the continuous efforts of PLMar Administration, student leaders to strengthen the culture of preparedness, safety, and resilience within the university community.
