EPD’S SECURITY PREPARATION FOR NLE 2025 BEGINS; SIMULTANEOUSLY LAUNCHED THE COMELEC CHECKPOINT IN METRO EAST

As the National and Local Election 2025 is fast approaching, the Eastern Police District under the leadership of PCOL VILLAMOR Q TULIAO, Acting District Director started to prepare security measures for the said event.

The four City Police Stations of EPD from Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina and San Juan conducted Simultaneous Launching of COMELEC Checkpoint in their respective area of responsibility at exactly 12:01 AM of January 12, 2025. This is in pursuance to the implementation of COMELEC Resolution No. 10741 which embodies the guidelines on the establishment and operation of COMELEC checkpoints.

The said checkpoint will last until June 11, 2025 where it covers the strict implementation on the violation of liquor ban, gun ban or those who are bearing, carrying or transporting fi****ms or other deadly weapons, and other prohibited items that could be used to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election.

Vigorous checking and inspection will be conducted during checkpoint to strictly implement safe and secured the May 2025 Midterm Elections. EPD personnel deployed to man the established checkpoints were also reminded to stay alert and vigilant at all times and adhere to the Police Operational Procedure and respect for human rights. Hence, bear the “AAA” framework of the Acting Regional Director, NCRPO, PBGEN ANTHONY A ABERIN of being “Able, Active and Allied” Police Force.

PCOL TULIAO, emphasized the importance of conducting the COMELEC Checkpoint in as peaceful manner, ensuring the safety and security of the people of Metro East in the midst of Election 2025. Thus, other law enforcement operations on anti-criminality will still be on top priority during these times.

ADD, EPD also encouraged the public to cooperate with the authorities and follow the rules and regulations set by the COMELEC and the PNP to ensure the success of the said election.

Further, the said simultaneous launching of COMELEC Checkpoint aims to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the electoral process as to respect democratic rights of the society towards peace and prosperity.
