[TAGUIG CITY, September 3, 2026] – The One Bangsamoro Movement (1BANGSA) is conducting a thorough review of all regional political parties and candidates for the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections on September 14, 2026. Our decision will be announced in the coming days, with a full rationale behind it.

Why This Election Matters

This is not just another election. For the first time, we will elect our own Parliament, 80 members who will govern our homeland directly. Over 2.3 million Bangsamoro voters now decide the future of our region. Unlike 2022 and 2025, when we endorsed leaders for a national government, this time we choose those who will govern us ourselves.

The stakes have never been higher.

What We Demand

Every party and candidate is being measured against non-negotiable standards: full implementation of the CAB, including protection for our Bangsamoro Outside Communities of BARMM (BCOBAR); genuine inclusivity for women, youth, Indigenous Peoples, settlers, and Bangsamoro beyond BARMM; real transparency and accountability in governance; the capacity to unite, not divide, whether one comes from Sulu, Maguindanao, or Manila; and concrete answers to poverty, education, health, and livelihood, especially for displaced and marginalized communities.

Ang 1BANGSA ay hinihimay ang lahat ng plataporma, hindi lamang para sa mga nasa BARMM, kundi para sa buong sambayanang Bangsamoro.

To Our Kapatid in the Movement

Kinikilala natin ang ating mga kapatid san man. Sila ay bahagi ng ating kasaysayan, at dapat silang bahagi ng ating kinabukasan. The CAB was never meant only for those inside BARMM. It is for every Bangsamoro, wherever they are. Any candidate worthy of our endorsement must show a real plan for our people beyond our borders.

We stand with Senator-Judge Robin Padilla
When they cannot answer the argument, they attack the man.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

1Bangsa stands with Senator-Judge Robin Padilla as he faces a wave of criticism for daring to ask the harder questions inside the impeachment court. Senator-Judge Padilla correctly pointed out that the use of aliases is standard practice in covert operations, citing how even Ninoy Aquino once used the alias "Marcial Bonifacio," a historical fact that stands on its own. Senator Bam Aquino's counter, that his uncle never handled government funds, does not answer Padilla's argument; it dodges it entirely, mistaking a difference in circumstance for a difference in principle. Whether or not funds were involved, the function of an alias remains the same: to protect an identity under threat, not to signal guilt, and no amount of selective comparison can erase that basic truth.

We have seen this pattern before, and we recognize it now. The louder the criticism against Robin grows, the clearer it becomes that his questions are striking a nerve that many would rather leave untouched. Yet with every attempt to pull him down, we see the opposite effect taking hold: his standing with the public grows firmer, and more individuals and organizations, 1Bangsa included, are rising to stand beside him, not out of blind loyalty, but out of respect for a senator-judge unafraid to ask what others avoid.

We call on the public to judge this trial on the strength of evidence and argument, not on how loudly one side jeers the other into silence. Senator-Judge Robin Padilla has every right, as a senator-judge, to test the prosecution's case from every historical and legal angle available to him. 1Bangsa will continue to stand with those who choose courage over convenience, for that is the same standard we ask of every leader who claims to serve the Filipino people.

The Senate impeachment court will retain the 16-vote threshold needed to convict Vice President Sara Duterte, with spokesperson Reginald Tongol warning that changing the requirement in the middle of the trial would be “dangerous.”

The issue was raised after the prosecution questioned whether the conviction threshold should adjust because some senator-judges are absent or unable to participate. Tongol said the rules cannot be changed for the convenience of either side.

“We are not just playing here for the convenience of the parties to change the rules mid-trial,” Tongol said. “The impeachment court does not act for the convenience of either the prosecution or the defense. It is acting to uphold the due process requirements under the law.”

Tongol said presiding officer Sen. Chiz Escudero’s July 6 ruling setting the threshold at 16 votes remains “set in stone” unless overturned by the Supreme Court. He also questioned whether senator-judges can still challenge the ruling internally after the period for appeal may have lapsed.

The spokesperson defended the threshold by citing the Supreme Court’s 2000 ruling in Bayan v. Zamora, which recognizes the Senate as a 24-member body regardless of how many senators are physically present.

Tongol said the high threshold reflects the intent of the 1987 Constitution’s framers, who made impeachment difficult because it removes an official chosen through a national mandate.

“Two-thirds is not a simple majority. It was the intention of the framers of the Constitution to make it hard for impeachment to happen,” he said.

Former Supreme Court Justice Adolfo Azcuna agreed, saying the absence of senator-judges does not reduce the required votes and only means they cannot contribute to the 16 votes needed for conviction.

One Convoy, One Warning: The Ambush of ICM Macacua and the Clear and Present Danger to the Bangsamoro and the Nation

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

1Bangsa echoes the grave concern already voiced by the M**F Central Committee and OPAPRU: this is not merely an attack on one convoy, it is a test of whether the Bangsamoro peace process itself can survive its most delicate hour. We are one election away from proving to the world that a homeland once defined by war can govern itself through the ballot. An unresolved ambush on the very man leading that transition threatens to unravel that proof before it is even written. Let us be exact about what is at stake. The Bangsamoro Organic Law was never simply a regional arrangement; it was the nation's answer to decades of bloodshed, and its success or failure belongs to every Filipino, not to Mindanao alone. If this incident is allowed to fester unresolved, if fear is allowed to replace fact, we are not only endangering BARMM. We are placing the entire architecture of the Bangsamoro peace, and the credibility of the Philippine state's promise to its own people, on the edge of collapse.

We say this with human conviction, not political calculation. Behind every acronym, every peace mechanism, every campaign rally, are mothers who buried sons during the war, communities who rebuilt from ash, and a generation of Bangsamoro youth who were promised they would never have to bury anyone for peace again. That is who stands to lose if this moment is mishandled. We refuse to let this become fuel for collective blame against any clan, party, or community, as the opinion piece rightly warns, for the Bangsamoro has already paid dearly for the sins of assigning guilt without evidence. But we refuse just as fiercely to let this be buried in silence, explained away, or diluted into a forgettable news cycle. Truth is not optional here. It is the only thing standing between healing and chaos.

To the government, to the AFP and PNP, to every peace mechanism built under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro: act now, act thoroughly, and act without fear or favor, because the nation itself now watches whether the Bangsamoro Organic Law was a genuine covenant or merely a document waiting to fail. To our people, we say do not let fear steal what courage has already won. 1Bangsa stands ready to defend this peace with our voice, our vigilance, and our vote, for if this situation is allowed to exceed its present danger, everything the BOL was built to serve, justice, self-determination, and a Bangsamoro finally at peace, falls into pieces, and the whole country falls with it.
