FLASHBACK FRIDAY | AUGUST 21, 1983 π΅π
βGising na Bayan, Tanghali na! Pakikiramay ng Kapatirang Tau Gamma Phi"
Forty-three years ago, our nation stood at a painful crossroads.
This historic photograph captures our UST Tau Gamma Phi brothers gathered along EspaΓ±a Boulevard in front of the University of Santo Tomas, amid the massive outpouring of grief and national awakening that followed the assassination of Benigno βNinoyβ Aquino Jr.
Ninoyβs death was not merely the loss of one man. It awakened a nation.
From the silence of fear came voices of courage. From grief came unity. From the streets came a growing call for freedom, democracy, and a better Philippines. His assassination became one of the defining moments that helped ignite the movement that would eventually culminate in the EDSA People Power Revolution.
Today, as we remember the 43rd death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino, we do not simply look back at a photographβwe look back at a generation that witnessed history unfold before its very eyes.
Among them were our Thomasian Triskelion brothers, young men who stood among countless Filipinos during one of the most difficult chapters of our nation's history.
Their presence reminds us that being The Proud. The Brave. is not merely about wearing our colors or carrying a name.
It is about having the courage to stand for what is right.
It is about loving our country when it is difficult to do so.
It is about remembering that our education, brotherhood, and privileges carry with them a greater responsibilityβto serve, to lead, and to contribute to the nation we call home.
Ang kasaysayan ay hindi lamang dapat alalahanin. Ito ay dapat pag-aralan, pahalagahan, at isabuhay.
May we never forget the sacrifices of those who came before us. May we never lose the courage to stand for truth, justice, freedom, and the dignity of every Filipino.
TAUST β carrying the spirit of brotherhood, service, and patriotism across generations.
